White House Official: Obamacare Website Disaster Is Republicans’ Fault

They’ll tell you that the apocalyptic government shutdown that we barely survived which nearly ended the world was all the Republicans’ fault. In particular the tea party’s fault, and in particular, Ted Cruz’s fault. If a Democrat is occupying the White House, everything bad that happens is the GOP’s fault. Everything good that happens is because of Obama and the Democrats trying to fix what the Republicans messed up.

And this is why they’re now, believe it or not, blaming the Republicans for the comical disaster that has been the Obamacare exchange website, healthcare.gov. Yes, all the glitches, the errors, the crashes, the reasons that the signups have been embarrassingly low, all that’s the Republicans fault. Politico reported:

Facing such intense opposition from congressional Republicans, the administration was in a bunker mentality as it built the enrollment system, one former administration official said. Officials feared that if they called on outsiders to help with the technical details of how to run a commerce website, those companies could be subpoenaed by Hill Republicans, the former aide said. So the task fell to trusted campaign tech experts.

So they decided to go with Obama’s campaign computer nerd interns because they were afraid the GOP might make the website engineers of a more professional company testify in some committee hearing. Once again, the Democrats were victims of those terrorist Republicans. I mean, the GOP pretty much were holding the Obama administration hostage on this one. The Dems had no choice but to use subpar website developers who happened to be their buddies. It’s all the Republicans’ fault.

But what would be wrong with having an outside company testify? What is there to be afraid of? Does the administration have something to hide?

Maybe the issue was a transparency one. If they had chosen a professional company through competitive bidding, they would have gotten a much better and cheaper deal than what they ended up with. But what if there was something about the website or Obamacare that the administration wanted to be kept secret? Perhaps they wanted their buddies to make the enrollment website, because they knew they wouldn’t do a very good job. In other words, it was designed to fail so that they could come and save the day with a simple and easy, single-payer system.

But to cover up that fact, they claim the reason they didn’t want professional technical help was because of the Republicans. Hey, when all else fails, just blame the Republicans. And Bush. People will fall for anything these days.
