Westboro Baptist Church Celebrates Sandy Hook Massacre Deaths

When liberals hate a person or a group or a policy, it is usually a good indicator that that person or group or policy is a good thing and should be embraced wholeheartedly.

It pains me to admit, therefore, that sometimes liberals are right about some things. It is a rarity, of course. But in the case of Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), I must concede.

First, it bears iteration that WBC is not representative of Baptists, nor of Christians in general.

The one reason liberals loathe WBC is because members of that church, from toddler to senior, regularly hold rallies in which they hold signs that read “GOD HATES FAGS” and vile along those lines. It is WBC’s anti-gay stance–not just anti-gay-marriage, but truly anti-gay–that liberals hate WBC so much.

The two reasons conservatives loathe WBC are (1) the aforementioned reason; God does not hate anybody, so WBC is distorting Christianity and making it look unpalatable to people who otherwise might consider converting; and (2) members of WBC regularly celebrate the deaths of our troops. Not only that, but they attend the funerals of our service members and shout to the family of the fallen that their dead Marine or Army soldier is in Hell because God hates the military.

Saying “God hates fags” is bad enough, but to celebrate death and rub that death into the faces of the deceased’s loved ones? That’s repugnant; it defies comprehension.

If there is an even more despicable deed to be done, WBC members would find it. And they have.

Wetsboro took to Twitter to tweet, “Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.”

Not only that, but they say they are now planning on picketing the funerals of all the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.

These people are evil.

Now the V for Vendetta-obsessed hacker group (cyber-terrorists, really) called Anonymous has hacked WBC’s website and has threatened, “We will destroy you. We are coming.”

And there is a petition on the White House’s website asking the federal government to officially label WBC as a “hate group.” Because the federal government should be labeling private citizens, apparently, and because it’s not clear whether or not WBC is a hateful group without its having that label.

The government does not need to stick its nose into this situation. But what should happen is that some people need to start throwing punches at WBC members at the next funeral they plan on infesting, and hopefully they’ll learn the valuable lesson that being jerks doesn’t pay very well.
