Union Hypocrites Want Obamacare Waiver

Niccolo Machiavelli said: “The wise man does at once what the fool does finally.” This bit of insight is certainly applicable to many aspects of life; but none more so than politics. We see examples of this every day coming out of Washington. The American people complain about something; the few intelligent and insightful politicians raise Cain; then the Democrats and foolish Republicans push through damaging legislation. It’s not until months or years later; when it hits the fan, that the fools begin to realize what has gone wrong. So is the case with Obamacare.

With many new Obamacare taxes taking effect this past January–specifically a 2.3% excise tax on medical devices–companies are desperately trying to find a way out. A company called Smith & Nephew had to lay off approximately 100 employees, because of the tax hike on their medical devices. The company places the blame squarely on Obamacare.

The thing is, the Unions that backed Obamacare so fervently are now the ones desperately trying to get exemptions. I suppose that they are just now realizing that socializing medicine can’t be accomplished for free. Fools.

Charles Payne, of FOX News says:

“Call it buyers remorse. A new report saying some unions are upset with the healthcare law they supported. Fearing it’s driving up medical costs; now they want subsidies. But they asked for the law in the first place.”

Adding to this, Dagen McDowell said: “If they get these subsidies–on top of the Union members already having health insurance–that just opens the door to handouts to everybody. And it will ultimately drive up the cost of this healthcare law even more…your costs go up? Suck it up!”

So, Union members–who fully backed Obamacare–are now upset because their costs are going up? This points to one of two things: either the Unions had absolutely no idea what was in the bill, or they new full well what was, and expected to be granted exemptions from the man they supported. Either way, that’s bad news. The Unions are either complicit in the abomination that is Obamacare–knowing they wouldn’t have to pay for it–or they were too stupid to realize that socializing medicine has cost consequences.

Personally, I think that both answers have merit. Somewhat parroting Charlie Gasparino, this behavior is so similar to college students who vote for Obama, then become indignant that they have to pay higher taxes. It is a failure to think beyond a limited scope. It is a failure to see past one issue about which they feel strongly. It is a failure to think things through. People get swept up in a passion, and make stupid choices. It makes sense with teenagers–they’re still developing, and therefore bound to be stupid–but adults don’t have that excuse.

This is the hypocrisy of the foolish. These Unions are just now waking up to a fact that was well known to intelligent, thoughtful people two years ago. Now they want exemptions. What they want is other people to pay their way; and they are indignant that that is frowned upon by rational, hard working people.

Well, the wise man is always ahead of the fool. In other words: Hard working Americans are ahead of the Unions. They wanted Obamacare; they can pay for it.
