Brittany Maynard vs Lauren Hill: One is Campaigning for Death the other for Life

Oregon calls their assisted suicide law the Death with Dignity Act, but is it really dignity or the coward’s way out? Before you get your panties in a bunch, I understand why people don’t want to suffer through horrible diseases but that is not an excuse to kill yourself. Allow me to compare two different cases that have been in the news lately. First there is Brittany Maynard, the 29 year old woman who had stage four brain cancer. When she first found out that she had terminal brain cancer, Read more […]

Rick Warren Subjected to Extreme Hate Following Sons Suicide

George Washington Carver said: “Fear of something is at the root of hate for others, and hate within will eventually destroy the hater.” To me, hate has always been somewhat of a foreign thing. Rather than hate, I simply become frustrated, then tired. But the truth is that everyone possesses hatred within them; even those who don’t often show it. Hatred lies dormant within us for as long as it needs to; waiting for the right moment to inflame our senses. Just as Carver said, the root of hatred is Read more […]

Suicide Kills More Active Military Personnel Than Combat

With all of the news about Afghanistan and Iraq, you would expect the number one cause of deaths of American soldiers would be from combat, but that is not the case.  In fact, the number one cause of military deaths is worse than combat, it’s from suicide. According to a recent release, there were 313 Army personnel killed in combat (Operation Enduring Freedom) for the year of 2012.  During that same timeframe, the Army reported 325 suicides.  That’s up from the previous year which reported Read more […]

Euthanasia V. Abortion

I’ve dealt with my fair share of hot-button conversations, most of which end with the other person raising their voice. One hot-button issue is in the news today. In Read more […]

The Liberal Anti-Gun Fallacy

It seems as though every tragedy in this country can galvanize Liberals into jumping up on their soapboxes. Liberals have many soapboxes: a woman’s right to choose, anti-death penalty, green living, global warming (sorry, climate change…sorry, what is it called now?), torture, and numerous other issues that when broken down with logic, fall apart like cheap Swedish furniture. Whatever the event, liberals find a way to make it about their pet cause. This time, it’s gun control. On NBC’s Sunday Read more […]

NFL Player Jovan Belcher Kills Girlfriend Then Himself

Back in September, I shared with you that suicides were on the increase and had surpassed automobile accidents as the number one cause of accidental deaths in the US.  What I failed to say then is that suicide is not an accidental death.  Rather it should be classified as first degree murder because virtually every person who commits or attempts suicide thinks about it and plans it.  There is nothing accidental about suicide. As our society strays further from its Christian values and morals, Read more […]
