How ‘Feeling the Bern’ Will Lead Us to Total Economic Collapse

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.” – Margaret Thatcher As economist Milton Friedman famously said, there’s no free lunch. What he meant was that money doesn’t simply materialize from the ether, rather, it comes from a source. What you get for free is being paid for by someone, and that someone is often you–you just don’t know it. Nothing is free. Not a thing. So it astounds me to see tens of thousands of people who, for all intents and purposes Read more […]

Why Socialism Doesn’t Work, as Learned by a Waiter

“In practice, socialism didn’t work. But socialism could never have worked because it is based on false premises about human psychology and society, and gross ignorance of human economy.” – David Horowitz I had a topic in mind for today’s piece, and was set on writing about it when my roommate came home from his new job as a server. Our subsequent conversation blew me away because despite my roommate’s ardent support of Democrats, and Bernie Sanders specifically, he made an inadvertent argument Read more […]

Why It’s Easy to Believe in Socialism Today

It’s easy to believe in socialism in modern America. It’s easy to hear about everyone working together for the common good, the government making sure everyone plays nice, and free and affordable everything for everyone and think, “Well that sounds like a great idea.” But the only reason it is so easy to believe is because we have never lived in a fully socialist country. We don’t know what socialism actually costs. Or what it actually looks like. There’s an interesting story about Read more […]

The United States 32nd in the World on Business Taxes

Number 32. That’s our global rank for business taxes. Yep. The largest economy in the world comes in at an unspectacular number 32 when it comes to how we tax our businesses. But it’s far worse than it sounds. There were only 34 countries (all the industrialized countries) in the study. Ouch: The index takes into account more than 40 tax policy variables. And the inaugural ranking puts the U.S. at 32nd out of 34 industrialized countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Read more […]

Why You Should Avoid Sending Kids to Public Schools

I can’t count how many times I’ve written against today’s public school system. They aren’t institutions of learning any more. They’ve become the training centers for raising anti-American socialists and Common Core is one of their current brainwashing tools to accomplish it. Here are three more reasons why you should avoid sending your kids to public school. 1) More and more teachers are engaging in sexual practices with their students. I‘ve written about a number of them in the Read more […]

People on Food Stamps Outnumber Women Working Full-Time Jobs

Thanks to the evaporation of American employment options,  the devaluation of the American dollar, and the expansion of government largesse, American citizens are even more dependent on the civil government than ever. In fact, statistics from 2011 and 2012 indicate that there are more people on food stamps than there are women working full-time jobs. This is the first instance on record where this has been the case in back-to-back years. But I find even the framing of the statistic troubling. Read more […]

Texas Doctor Rebels against Obamacare – Calls it Socialism

Dr. Kristin Held of San Antonio, Texas discovered that at least one insurance company she had contracted with was following President Obama’s example and changing the terms of her contract without notifying her or obtaining her consent. Held is an ophthalmologist who has taught at the University of Texas Health Science Center and served as the director of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the Brady Green Community Health Center.  Currently she works in private practice at the Stone Oak Ophthalmology Read more […]

US No Longer in Top 10 of Most Economically Free Countries

The Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation released their 2014 Index of Economic Freedom, and, unsurprising to most of us, the United States has dropped out of the top ten most economically free countries. This is due in part to our escalating economic regulations and out-of-control debt, but it also has to do with growing freedoms in other parts of the world. The Wall Street Journal reports: The most improved players are in Eastern Europe, including Estonia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. Read more […]

Only Government Has The Right To Decide What Health Benefits Employees Get From Employers

If you are the owner of a business, whether large or small, should you have the right to determine what benefits, including healthcare coverage that you want to provide for your employees?  As an employer, you should have the right to determine what kind, if any, retirement program you offer, or what your sick time and vacation policies will be.  Should you not have the same rights as an employer about what kind of healthcare coverage you want to provide, especially since you will be paying the Read more […]

It’s Worse Than You Think: Why the Administration Must Make the Shutdown Hurt

The word is out, no thanks to the unmanned drones who run the “legitimate media.” This administration is purposely trying to make the government shutdown as painful as possible. You’ve got to give them credit for creativity in this: With only 17% of the monstrosity being closed, you really have to search for ways this is hurting anybody. Even the federal worker trotted out on NPR this morning, who has been relegated to building toy block castles with his young son during the days of furlough, Read more […]

Romney’s Free Market vs. Obama’s Socialism

From the moment it was apparent that Mitt Romney had secured the Republican nomination for President of the United States, Barack Obama and his troupe of fabricators began a vicious attack on his record at Bain Capital.  They picked a couple of examples of where Bain Capital either closed a company down or shipped their business overseas and ignored the majority of what Bain really accomplished. In the meantime, the Obama camp of ‘can do no wrong’ failed to tell the American public about Read more […]

NYC Bypasses Parents to Provide Plan B Morning After Pills to High Schoolers

If you’re the parent of a teenage daughter attending high school in New York City, be warned that the New York City Department of Education has just usurped your parental authority and rights. Thirteen high schools within the NYC school district will be providing Plan B morning after pills to girls as young as 14 without any parental permission or knowledge.  Supposedly, parents can opt their daughters out of the program, but nothing says the girls still won’t have access when they are at Read more […]
