Pew Survey: The Feds and the Media Have Most Negative Impact on America

Of all the things that have a negative impact on the United States, from terrorists to criminals to drugs to whatever, the top two things Americans claim have the most negative impact on America are the federal government (if you include Congress) and the media: An extensive new Pew Research Center survey finds that 65 percent believe that the news media “has a negative effect on the way things are going in the country.” Some 56 percent said the entertainment industry has a negative effect. Harmless Clorox Tweet Singled Out by Race Baiters

Give me a break. Clorox posted a technology-relevant tweet mourning their lack of inclusion in Apple’s new emoji palette. It had a picture of a bottle of Clorox bleach composed of emojis. The text for the tweet was, “New emojis are alright but where’s the bleach.” I have some major issues with this tweet. First, “alright” has not achieved widespread acceptance as a substitute for “all right.” Second, a coordinating conjunction between two independent clauses should be preceded Read more […]

Why White Democrats are Scarce in the South

Mary Landrieu just lost her Senate seat. Big time. She was the last of the white Democrats in the Deep South. And white Democrats are complaining that this is a racial issue. But that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Let’s just look at some demographics: Of all the people who reported as Black in Census 2000, 54 percent lived in the South, 19 percent lived in the Midwest, 18 percent lived in the Northeast and 10 percent lived in the West. So, more than half of the US’s black people, whom Read more […]

Daniele Watts, Race Baiting, and Crying Wolf

Race baiting is ubiquitous in our day. It seems like everything is about race. Even when it isn’t. So the recent story about Django Unchained actress Daniele Watts just seemed like par for the course. She says she was kissing her husband in public—relatively harmless, I would say—but police were called, she says, because she is black and he is white. The police assumed she was a prostitute and apparently forced her into handcuffs after humiliating her publicly. That sounds horrible! Those Read more […]

NAACP Says Detroit Water Shutoffs are Racist

By now, we should all be used to it. Everything is racism. Everything is about race. In the most recent confirmation of this dubious truth, the NAACP is claiming that the city of Detroit is shutting off the water of racial minorities because of their race. Why does the NAACP think this, aside from their institutional need to legitimize their own existence by creating a world of racial motivations? They claim that Detroit is not shutting off water to some corporations in Detroit (all owned by white Read more […]

Democrat Charlie Rangel Race Baits Again

“There is no point in asking a man a question until you have established whether he has any reason to lie to you.” – Ken Follet At the base of a lie is a desire to keep the truth out of the hands of the person to whom the lie is being told. It’s a protective measure. A lie is invented either to protect the liar, or to protect someone, or something closely associated with the liar. The need for protection indicates that the truth is harmful to the liar. But what harm could be so great that it would Read more […]

Zimmerman May Not Be Racist, But America Is

In the most recent yearly accounting, there were 16,259 homicides in the U.S.1 That comes out to more than 44 homicides a day. Even if George Zimmerman had been found guilty of murder for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, that homicide would have been just one among very many. Most homicides barely make the local news. Why should this one be a national tragedy? Why has this case become an icon of American Read more […]2010 was the most recent year I could find for which exhaustive statistics were released. [↩]

Cornel West Race-Baits…Again

It actually took longer than I thought for the tragedy at Sandy Hook to bring out the race-baiters. There are bad people everywhere; and those who use tragedy to push some kind of agenda. There are always those who use sadness to provoke anger, and violence to promote their pet ideas. If you’ll recall back in 2005, it didn’t take the race-baiters long to start blaming president Bush for the recovery fiasco. It was famously said by Kanye West–mascot of intelligent discourse–that the post-Katrina recovery Read more […]
