How Obama is Taking the “Illegal” Out of Illegal Immigrants

I’ve been writing for this site for long enough to know that the phrase “illegal immigrants” really annoys some of you. “Illegal aliens,” you’ll say. “There’s no such thing as an illegal immigrant.” Well, there actually is. An immigrant is someone who changes residency from one country to another. So far so good. An illegal immigrant is someone who changes residency from one country to another illegally. Well, Obama aims to change that. But just like he said earlier this year, Read more […]

Senator Mike Lee Humiliates Eric Holder

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Eric Holder was asked by Senator Mike Lee to explain the Constitutional basis for executive orders, namely those such as the one issued by Obama to delay the employer mandate. Holder couldn’t think of any Constitutional basis and concluded that Obama is perhaps at the height of his Constitutional limit. The Washington Examiner reported: “I’ll be honest with you, I have not seen — I don’t remember looking at or having seen the analysis in some time, Read more […]

Obama Makes More Dictatorial Moves To Disarm Americans

When I see the Associated Press post one of their articles under the heading “The Big Story,” I expect them to provide some context and background. I guess I’m confused—thinking of the implications of the term “big picture.” In any case, this report tells us that Obama is using unconstitutional dictatorial powers executive orders to harass and burden gun owners, would-be gun owners, and to discourage the acquisition of guns. The first line of the story is ironic: “Vice President Read more […]

Mr. Rubio: Problem-Solving Starts With Your Sworn Oath

Last week, Presidential prospect, Sen. Marco Rubio penned a Wall Street Journal article asking for American cooperation to solve our nations “broken immigration system.” Once again, instead of focusing on real problem-solving, another elected official plays politics while our country disintegrates. In “Marco Rubio: The Immigration Reform Opportunity,” Rubio reminisces about “Idea Raisers,” Florida public policy forums designed to give the voter a say in constructing legislative agendas Read more […]

Joe Biden Promises Gun Bans Via 19 Executive Orders

“They are coming for your guns” is no longer a wild warning from conservatives; it is a promise from Vice President Joe Biden. A headline at Politico reads, “Joe Biden: White House eyeing 19 executive actions on guns.” They use the word “actions” because it doesn’t sound as dictatorial as “orders,” which is what they are: executive orders. The article doesn’t make clear that President Obama will actually sign nineteen executive orders or if he’s just considering one or two that have nineteen Read more […]

America’s Next Bubble: The Executive Order Crisis

History has shown us that the careless misuse of legislative power will have long term—and in many cases irreversible—consequences for the United States of America. Federal legislatures that are managed without caution and respect for our governing principles always create social and economic havoc in our Republic. Now Presidential executive orders are becoming a tolerated misuse of authority and if they are not challenged by the people we will find our rights to redress will vanish in the blink Read more […]

Disarming America Through Executive Fiat

“If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves.” “The measures adopted to restore public order are: First of all, the elimination of the so-called subversive elements…They were elements of disorder and subversion. On the morrow of each conflict I gave the categorical order to confiscate the largest possible number of weapons of every sort and kind. This confiscation, which continues with the utmost energy, has given satisfactory results.” Those Read more […]

Liberals’ Desire to Be Ruled Will Lead to a Totalitarian Government

The New Republic is a publication that really has no business not displaying the hammer and sickle on its website’s homepage, so left-wing are its writers. Timothy Noah writes for TNR that President Obama, with no need to appeal to the majority of the country anymore since he will not be up for re-election, should now rule by executive fiat: “With the election over, the president can now take bolder action on a host of domestic issues that don’t require cooperation–or even input–from Congress.
