The Lobbying Problem and How We Can Fix It

We have a lobbying problem in Congress. Beginning in the early 2000s, the amount of money being spent to lobby Congress exceeded the amount of money taxpayers were spending to fund Congress: Corporations now spend about $2.6 billion a year on reported lobbying expenditures – more than the $2 billion we spend to fund the House ($1.18 billion) and Senate ($860 million). It’s a gap that has been widening since corporate lobbying began to regularly exceed the combined House-Senate budget in the Read more […]

Guess which Member of Congress is the Most Unpopular?

If you asked who you think is the most unpopular member of Congress, who would you say? I thought about that question and immediately thought of a whole list of names. Among those in the Senate I would list as my personal most unpopular include Harry Reid, Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Tom Harkin, Al Franken, Claire McCaskill, and Cory Booker. Among those in the House I would quickly list Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, Maxine Waters, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Keith Read more […]

Democrat Controlled Congress Allowed Rape Victims to be Repeatedly Victimized

I can’t imagine the trauma and emotional horror a woman goes through when she is brutally raped. Quite often, a rape victim is permanently scared emotionally and struggles with relationships the rest of her life. Now imagine being victimized over and over, not by the rapist but by the system you turned to for help. I’m not talking about the humiliating cross examination of defense attorneys that takes place in many court rooms, but the hospitals and labs that collect the rape kits on the victims. A Read more […]

Why Americans Hate Incumbents Yet Still Re-Elect Them

In a recent article, PolitiFact ran the data and apparently the approval rating for Congress is around 14%, yet the incumbent re-election rate is around 95%. Just in case you just suffered blunt force trauma to the head, let me explain why that statistic is odd. It means potential voters overwhelmingly hate the people who are currently in office, and yet actual voters overwhelmingly re-elect those same despised individuals. That is odd, to say the least. But what exactly does it mean? I think Read more […]

Poll Shows Public Doubts if Obama Will Work with GOP

After the Republicans won control of Senate and gained more seats in the House, Barack Obama told the American people that he wants to work with them to get things done. I recall him saying something similar in 2010 when the Republicans won control of the House, splitting control of Congress with the Democrats. Yet in the four years since that time, Obama has refused to work with the GOP House. He has repeatedly insisted that they cave in to his demands or he would veto everything that they sent Read more […]

Time for GOP to Put Up or Shut Up

Ever since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006 and then the White House in 2008, Republicans have been complaining. Obamacare has been one of their biggest complaints. Republicans have been against the forced penalties for Americans that don’t have health insurance. They’ve been against many of the taxes imposed by Obamacare along with the high costs of healthcare and reduction in quality of coverages. They’ve also complained about some parts of the employer mandate and how it Read more […]

New Poll Shows GOP Likely to Win Senate in November

Earlier this year, less than half of the likely voters polled said they believed that Republicans would win control of the Senate in the November election. In January, only 44% had faith of a GOP victory. Those figures go along with many polls that showed that Democrats had slightly higher approval ratings than Republicans. However, the tide is now swinging in favor of the Republican Party according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey. The January figure of 44% has now risen to 54% Read more […]

Poll Calls Congress “Least Popular Ever”

It doesn’t take a genius to understand that our current batch of representatives in Congress aren’t getting much done. The question is why? Is it because they are incompetent? Or is it because we, as a nation, have become so divided our political representatives cannot work together? Whatever the reason, Congress is very, very unpopular. ——————————————————————————- Taxes, spiders, North Korea, it doesn’t matter. If you can name it, Read more […]

Obama Threatens Lives of Every American Abroad with Gitmo Swap

Over the weekend, the White House carried out a swap of five Afghan members of the Taliban being held in prison at Guantanamo Naval Base (Gitmo) in Cuba for US Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. I’m thrilled for the Bergdahl family but am also extremely concerned that Obama’s actions just placed the life of every American outside the US in danger. Now that Taliban terrorists understand that our Muslim loving president will negotiate and release Taliban terrorists in exchange for the lives of Americans, Read more […]

Polls Show Most Americans Saying No to Re-Electing GOP Incumbents

In the 2010 mid-term elections, a number of Washington incumbents were replaced with a class of new politicians.  If the latest Rasmussen Report is accurate, this year’s mid-term election may result in a more dramatic replacement of the current members of Congress. Republicans are hoping to maintain control of the House and regain control of the Senate, but the reality may not be so rosy.  A recent poll indicated that 59% of Republicans in Congress have lost touch with Republican voters throughout Read more […]

Liberal Constitutional Scholar Tells Congress ‘We are in the Midst of a Constitutional Crisis’

Barack Obama has become so far left wing anti-America and anti-Constitution that even some of his liberal supporters are starting to fear what he’s doing. One of the most highly respected constitutional scholars is Professor Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University Law School.  He is the second most quoted law professor and constitutional scholar in the nation.  He is also a Democrat who voted for Obama, but you wouldn’t know that after his testimony before Congress. Turley Read more […]

List of Impeachment Supporters in Congress Steadily Growing

The list of impeachable allegations against President Barack Hussein Obama has been growing nearly as fast as our national deficit.  They range from perjury, to violating the US Constitution and federal laws, to illegally bypassing Congress to make law to aiding and abetting America’s enemies. I’ve had a number of people ask me why doesn’t Congress go ahead and impeach Obama and the answer is simple.  The Republican controlled House could easily muster up the support to charge Obama with Read more […]
