Texas Shooting: Protect Free Speech, but Anticipate Repercussions

“Free speech is meant to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech, by definition, needs no protection.” – Neal Boortz Every examination of the shooting in Garland, Texas begins with “I support free speech, but…” There always a “but.” I saw across social media and the internet a series of cyclical arguments in which one person would defend the “Draw Mohammed” contest, then another would decry it, saying it’s too provocative. Over and over again, this cycle continued. These cyclical arguments Read more […]

Charlie Hebdo says Don’t Make Us a Free Speech Symbol!

I’ll be honest, I don’t like Charlie Hebdo. I hardly ever agree with their commentary or their politics, but I believe that the men and women who work for that magazine should have an absolute right to say (speak, write and draw) whatever they’d like, and that the people who buy their magazine should have every opportunity to read what they’ve written. Free Speech isn’t a government-given right, it’s a God-given right and because of that there should be no strings attached. Liberals have been giving Read more […]

It’s Not Just Here – New Study Shows Freedom of Religion and Press in Decline Everywhere

Our generation has sadly been the stewards of the tail end of the American Century. As we’ve allowed liberals to steer the fate of our nation, they’ve quite quickly driven us to the brink of insignificance. With our decline has also come the decline of freedom around the world. Two new reports show what conservatives (and Christians) have been saying for several years now, freedom – particularly religious freedom and freedom of speech and the press – is in decline. It’s in decline here in America Read more […]

Et Tu Charlie? Do French Homophobes Get Free Speech Protection? Nope.

After the controversial magazine Charlie Hebdo was targeted by Muslim terrorists, all of France (and most of the world) got together to champion free speech, even of the most inflammatory, controversial variety. Following such an outpouring, France has made a historic decision to punish French homophobes for inflammatory speech. Double standard? In what a major French LGBT rights group called a “significant victory”, three people were convicted in a Paris court this week after they accompanied Read more […]

French Police Call for More Numerous and Powerful Guns

Reality and liberal political theory are always at odds with each other. The theory goes, “the fewer guns we allow in society, the safer that society will be.” I don’t even think that can qualify as a theory. A fantasy, maybe. Wishful thinking at best. But not a theory. Especially when the evidence screams in stark contrast. It’s like trying to shove an adult size 18 foot into a child’s shoe. In the wake of the terrorist attack perpetrated by peaceful Muslims in Paris, liberals would Read more […]

Charlie Hebdo Editor – When You Blur our Cartoon, You “Blur Out Democracy”

The newly minted Editor-in-Chief at Charlie Hebdo – the French satirical magazine that was recently attacked by Islamic terrorists, resulting in the death of 12 innocent Parisians – was on NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd on Sunday to discuss terrorism, freedom of expression and more. When Todd asked the new editor, Gerard Briard, what he thought about the decision of many America news outlets to blur the cover of their magazine, Briard responded perfectly to the prudish American media. “Écoutez, Read more […]

Obama Stands with France, but only Metaphorically

Obama was quick to say he stands with France, but when the opportunity presented itself, he was a no-show. “It’s a deep and all but certain truth about narcissistic personalities that to meet them is to love them, but to know them well is to find them unbearable.” – Jeffrey Kluger The country was introduced to Barack Obama in 2008, and promptly fell in love with him. Well, some of us did. Over the course of his six years in office, we have gotten to know him, and his behavior has become confusing, Read more […]

In Paris a Muslim Man Plays Hero during Terrorist Attack

One of the unsung heroes after Friday’s hostage crisis at a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris was a Muslim employee, who hid shoppers in a basement walk-in freezer while desperate Muslim terrorists fired shots and seized hostages just upstairs. Lassana Bathily, described by Le Parisien as a “Malian Muslim,” helped the shoppers to safety amid the chaos of jihadist Ahmed Coulibaly entering the store and taking hostages while police closed in. Able to contact their families and local authorities Read more […]

12 Shot Dead in Paris by Peaceful Muslims

This isn’t the first time peaceful Muslims have been outraged by this particular magazine in Paris. The editor Charb and cartoonist Cabu for Charlie Hebdo had gotten used to the death threats and the rioting to the point that one of them had a personal bodyguard, one of the victims in the attack. CBS reported:  Paris police say three gunmen attacked the office of a French satirical newspaper in Paris on Wednesday, killing at least 12 people and leaving at least as many more injured. CBS News’ Read more […]
