The California Federation of Teachers (CFT) is a statewide affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers that represents faculty in both public and private schools from preschool to graduate school. They are a powerful union in the state of California.
Fred Glass is the director of communications for CFT and as such is responsible for disseminating information to teachers throughout the state. One of the projects that Glass recently finished is a video entitled, Tax the Rich: An animated fairytale. This animated video is on the front page of the CFT website as well as available to everyone on YouTube. The eight minute video is narrated by actor Ed Asner.
I just finished watching this video and found it to be nothing more than an anti-business and anti-American socialist propaganda film. In the typical communist fashion, the film blames all of America’s economic problems on the wealthy. Big business is portrayed as the evil bad guy who is so greedy that he sucks the wealth and money out of every other part of society and hoards it for himself, leaving the average American in destitution. According to the CFT website:
“Tax the rich: An animated fairy tale, is narrated by Ed Asner, with animation by award-winning artist Mike Konopacki, and written and directed by Fred Glass for the California Federation of Teachers. The 8 minute video shows how we arrived at this moment of poorly funded public services and widening economic inequality. Things go downhill in a happy and prosperous land after the rich decide they don’t want to pay taxes anymore. They tell the people that there is no alternative, but the people aren’t so sure. This land bears a startling resemblance to our land. After you watch this video, click here to share with friends, and send an email to your elected officials to let them know they need to restore higher federal tax rates on the wealthy so that we may once more enjoy properly funded public services.”
Kyle Olson, Publisher Founder & CEO of Education Action Group Foundation, Inc., told One News Now that the video that Glass wrote was full of misrepresentations and inaccuracies, saying:
“What really put it over the top for me was … the image of the supposed rich guy standing on the scale, urinating on the people down below him. I thought that was such a cynical image for big labor to portray to American people and to students.”
When Glass stated they never intended the video to be used in the classroom, Olson responded saying:
“The teachers in California and around the country will run this in … their social studies class or a history class or economics class and treat it like it’s the gospel, even though it’s little more than big labor propaganda.”
If in fact this video was never intended to the classroom and why would the communications director of the largest teachers union in the state of California produce such a video? He had to have known that a number of teachers would pick up the video to show to their students.
This video demonstrates just how liberal, leftist, and socialistic the teachers unions have become, and how they are brainwashing our children to accept socialist philosophies and learning to hate America and the free enterprise system. I hope you find this video to be as alarming as I did then to realize the harm they are doing to this generation of schoolchildren in our nation.
In Scripture we have several examples of how a godly nation was lost in just one generation. The teachers unions across the country started their efforts two generations ago and are working harder now than ever before to produce a third generation of lost souls. First they removed God from the classrooms and now they are working tirelessly to remove family values and American patriotism from the classrooms, and they are succeeding.
