Russian President Vladimir Putin says Ground Troops in Syria is “Out of the Question”

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently appeared on Russian television to discuss his government’s plan for their operations supporting Bashar al Assad in Syria. Putin says in no uncertain terms that Russia will NOT be sending ground troops into action in Syria.

“Our goal is… the stabilization of the lawful authorities and to create conditions for the search of political compromise.

If the Syrian Army demonstrates its vitality… the readiness to fight against terrorism… then the possibilities to reach a political compromise will be higher.”

Putin then added that he had “no intentions” to send Russian soldiers to support Syrian forces on the ground, “and our Syrian friends know this.”
