Mother Teresa said: “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.” That quote really grabs hold of what is at the core of the abortion debate. At what time does someone get to play God? At what time is it ever appropriate to terminate? If it is acceptable at 20 weeks, why not 30? If at 30, why not post-birth? Most people would argue that post-birth termination is a ridiculous idea, and that it is a waste of time to discuss it. However, post-birth abortion is supported by many, including Planned Parenthood.
The Florida legislature is considering a bill that would protect infants born alive after a failed abortion. This has been the subject of numerous bill propositions in many states over the past several years.
According to The Weekly Standard:
“Alisa LaPolt Snow, the lobbyist representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, testified that her organization believes the decision to kill an infant who survives a failed abortion should be left up to the woman seeking an abortion and her abortion doctor.”
When further pressed for the exact meaning of her statement, Snow beat around the bush, saying nothing more than what she had already said, only in different words. Let me dissect the meaning of her statement. Snow is arguing that if an infant survives a botched abortion, it is entirely up to the discretion of the mother, and her doctor as to whether or not that child is allowed to survive. Snow is arguing that post-birth; when an infant is entirely separate from its mother, it may still be executed at the discretion of the mother and her doctor.
Recently, Dr. Kermit Gosnell was put on trial for severing the spines of born-alive infants following botched abortions. He is being accused of multiple counts of murder. Planned Parenthood is now advocating the same practice. We’ve arrived at the bottom of the slippery slope, where an infants life—even after it is born alive—Is at the mercy of a mothers whim.
Once again, according to The Weekly Standard:
“Snow said Planned Parenthood was concerned about ‘those situations where it is in a rural health care setting, the hospital is 45 minutes or an hour away, that’s the closest trauma center or emergency room. You know there’s just some logistical issues involved that we have some concerns about.’”
Snow is allegedly “concerned” that an infant would not make it to a hospital. So rather than attempt to save a human being’s life, she’d rather just sever its spinal cord, and avoid the hassle. This is the definition of a crocodile. Snow is not a human being; she is a cold-blooded reptile.
The most frightening part of this whole situation is that there are others who support such barbaric practices; namely, our wonderful President. Barack Obama voted multiple times–in his home state–to deny basic human rights to infants born alive following a failed abortion. This denial of rights would allow an infant to be terminated without legal recourse. Our President supports infanticide.
If we allow a woman to execute her own child, where does it end? Apparently not after birth. If not just after birth, when does it become wrong to terminate your child’s life? 6 months? A year? 5 years?
Our society is so ignorant of the procedures of abortion that they will sit back and allow this outrageous behavior to continue. Planned Parenthood is a provider of state sponsored murder; yet Americans continue to look the other way, because they are too stupid or fearful to argue for the sanctity of life.
Abortion operates on a sliding scale; the end of which has yet to be determined. I am terrified to see what lies at the bottom of the scale.
