Last Friday night, Jermaine Dewayne Marshall walked into a Dollar General Store in Evansville, Indiana wearing a bandana over his face and holding a plastic bag in his hand that he said held a gun. He ordered the clerk to open the cash register but the clerk refused. Marshall began hitting the clerk in the face.
About that time, Pastor Carl Sanders walked into the store to purchase a Gatorade. Marshall told Sanders to get on the ground, but the pastor had other plans. Sanders is not only a pastor but he is also the holder of a conceal carry permit and last night, he was carrying. In his own words, Sanders described what happened:
“He was telling me to get on the ground. That’s when I pulled my weapon and say, ‘No, you get on the ground.'”
“I told him don’t move, put your face down on the ground and don’t even look at me right now. I just told him this is out of love.”
“I laid my life down for some people, knowing they were going to be OK. [I knew Marshall] didn’t deserve to be hurt, I wasn’t going to hurt him, but I wanted him to know you can’t do this.”
It turns out that the weapon Marshall had hidden in the bag was a plastic spoon, but at the time, no one knew whether he had a loaded gun or not. No one knows how badly Marshall would have hurt the store clerk had Pastor Sanders not been carrying his gun at the time, but one thing is sure, no further injury was incurred thanks to the pistol packin’ pastor.
Now consider the fact that if Obama and the rest of the liberals had their way, Pastor Sanders would not have been allowed to carry a concealed weapon. Without his gun, he would also have been at the mercy of Marshall and his aggressive actions. They would prefer to place the store clerk and pastor at the mercy of a possible weapon toting criminal rather than giving people the ability to protect themselves and others as Sanders did. Obama and company would rather see murdered victims than allow American citizens to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms and protect their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
