Wow. In an interview with MSNBC on Monday night, president Obama made this absolutely brilliant statement when discussing a possible second term:
“We should have one Secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA or helping companies with exports…There should be a one-stop shop.”
Later on in the interview, he placed the burden of his failure to accomplish this on Congress. He said Congress is “very protective about not giving up their jurisdiction over various pieces of government.”
This is president Barack Obama in a nutshell. Have a problem? Let’s create a new government position in order to solve it! Wait, nobody likes my idea? Then it’s someone else’s fault! The massive expansion of an already severely bloated government, and passing the buck when it ultimately fails have truly defined Obama’s presidency these last four years.
Is this the absolute best he can offer? A new government monster? We have a crumbling economy, sluggish growth (if the 7.8% September jobs numbers are to be believed), millions out of work, and a $16 trillion debt. In the face of all this, rather than offering up proven, private sector oriented solutions, he wants to add a yet another cog into the behemoth we call the Federal Government. Because as we know, the government is always the solution.
This is a man who’s beliefs are fundamentally flawed; a man who, in the face of facts, chooses to stick to his ideologies, rather than adapt to find a solution. This is a man who claims at every step that Republican obfuscation is the sole reason his presidency has failed. What does this mean?
It means that Obama is a dangerous person to have in the White House. This is the case because there are only two possibilities: either Barack Obama is ignorant, or a malicious ideologue. I honestly think that both possibilities have validity. He has had four years to make a case for re-election, and he has failed in every way possible–oh wait, Bin Laden is dead. Way to go, Barack, you did what almost any other president would have done! Kudos.
My point is this: Even if you like Obama or voted for him in 2008, you have to be willing to peel the scales off of your eyes, eat some crow, and see the truth. He has failed. He is utterly incapable of adaptation and all signs point to even more failure.
Here’s the plus side. We have a solution right in front of us. Is he perfect? Certainly not. But he is infinitely more qualified to run our country than the man sitting in the White House. Simply look to Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts record for evidence of that.
We can have an ideologue, or a problem solver with a proven record. We can have someone who is economically ignorant, or we can have someone who’s economic experience is proven. We can have four more years of failure, or we can make a change.
It’s time to make a change.
