“The only people that don’t want to disclose the truth, are people with something to hide.” – Barack Obama, 2012
Let’s talk a little bit about ethics—specifically ethics in relation to those who hold positions of power, and who thus have great influence. To deliberately deceive one’s constituents, to say one thing on camera, while secretly believing another, all to serve the purpose of political expediency, is unethical. Is that not clear? It’s opportunism.
If a Republican were running for president, and this Republican sat in front of a camera, telling a national audience that he, like the majority of Americans, fully opposed amnesty; then this President, over the course of his term, began to impose pro-amnesty legislation, would you feel betrayed? Would you be confused? What if it then came out that the only reason he said he opposed amnesty was for “strategic reasons.” Would that—in the most simple terms—make him a liar? Absolutely.
According to Zeke J. Miller of Time:
“Barack Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit when he claimed in the 2008 election to oppose same sex marriage for religious reasons, his former political strategist David Axelrod writes in a new book, Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.”
Axelrod, who claims that he knew of Obama’s real position on gay marriage during Obama’s first term in office, writes the following in his book:
“Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union’…”
Just to rub salt in the wound, here’s another quote straight from the horse’s mouth. In 2012, Obama said the following:
“You didn’t elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth.”
Did we, now?
Back in 2008, then-candidate Obama told popular Pastor Rick Warren “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman…Now, for me as a Christian–for me–for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.”
However, back in 1996, Obama filled out a questionnaire while running for Illinois state Senate, in which he wrote “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.”
Finally, after supporting gay marriage in 1996, then opposing it in 2008 (both during campaigns), he came out in support of it, alleging that he had “evolved.” Cue the studio audience “awww.”
“I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.”
How brave, and how progressive! What a bastion of integrity! Hillary Clinton shortly followed suit, using similar terminology. It’s funny, a Democrat can evolve, but a Republican can only flip-flop.
Now with Axelrod’s revelation—one which no one would have expected coming from someone so close to, and such a staunch defender of, Obama—it is clear that Obama did not “evolve,” but simply, and carefully studied the winds of culture, and devised his policy based solely on that. In other words, Obama’s pants should be completely engulfed in flames.
Do his supporters not find this offensive? All the while being supportive of gay marriage, Obama looked the nation straight in the face, and told us he was opposed to it for religious reasons. Then, once elected, he had a road-to-Damascus-moment, the scales were removed from his eyes, and suddenly, gay marriage was totally, like, cool! What a piece of garbage. No, that’s not strong enough. What a pr*ck! Look how nice I was to replace the “i” with an asterisk.
This brings up the question: What else has he lied about? We know he has lied about a great many things, such as keeping our doctors, his knowledge of the problems at the VA, and Benghazi. We (people who live in reality) all know that, but his supporters are likely still under the impression that he’s a demi-God, capable only of righteousness, and giving away free phones. Will this revelation be the slap in the face they need? Unlikely. They’ll find a way to spin it.
Additionally, Obama is not only a pathological liar, he also doesn’t respect his alleged faith very much either if he is willing to use it to help cover his extraordinary lie. Which brings me to my final point. Obama is not a Christian of any variety—unless you count atheism as a kind of Christianity. He is a pathological liar, an opportunist, and a frighteningly convincing narcissist. This should scare, and offend even his most ardent supporters.
Barack Obama likes Americans to see him as the person who believes this:
“There is probably a perverse pride in my administration… that we were going to do the right thing, even if short-term it was unpopular.”
But in reality, he’s the kind of guy who believes this:
“That’s the good thing about being president, I can do whatever I want.”
