Ayn Rand said: “Contradictions do not exist. Whenever you think you are facing a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong.” This quote beautifully sums up the nature of Barack Obama. Barack Obama is a puzzle of a man, if there ever was one. He is an opportunist and an idealist all at once. He is corrupt in one way, but pure in his ideals. Within the framework of his agenda, he will always fall into place; right where you’d expect him to be. Looking at his policy, contradictions seem to arise. But the truth is, they are not contradictions, but false premises.
Barack Obama is the first President to directly address Planned Parenthood. In his speech at a Planned Parenthood gathering, he said many things: he advocated for “women’s health,” decried states that have enacted restrictive abortion laws, and vowed to fight for Planned Parenthood. The President said numerous things about which I could be offended, but his final words to the gathering struck me. At the end of his speech, the president said this: “…you’ve also got a President whose gonna be right there with you, fighting every step of the way. God bless you.”
God bless you. To an organization that performed roughly 333,000 executions in 2011, Obama said “God bless you.” To an organization that has said nothing about the Gosnell infanticide trials, Obama said “God bless you.” To an organization that has openly advocated post-birth terminations, Obama said “God bless you.” That is one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard.
I’ve made my feeling regarding abortion quite clear over the course of my time writing for this site; and I have written strongly against the President’s views on abortion numerous times; yet Obama’s remarks still sent shock waves through my system. If we break down what was said, it goes like this: the President of the United States offered a hope that the Christian God (the one who is creator of all) would grant blessings to an organization that deliberately terminates infants, more often than not for purposes of convenience. In a simple–probably cursory–statement, Obama has gut punched the right to life; he has slapped God in the face, and spit on life itself. In this I am not attempting to be dramatic, simply accurate.
With three words, Barack Obama has surpassed his previous statements regarding abortion, and his four-time vote to disregard infant rights following botched abortions. With three words, he has made himself smaller than he has ever been.
Obama’s beliefs are based on false premises. He does not believe that an infant in the womb is a human being. Therefore, he can ask God to bless Planned Parenthood without a hint of irony in his voice. This is not a contradiction; it is a falsehood. Barack Obama is himself, a falsehood.
