Here’s the truth that Fox News and the GOP keep dancing around: the Bush dynasty has no commitment to conservative values beyond what they think they need to do or say to acquire political power.
Back in 2000, I and my wife actually prayed for George W. Bush because of the way liberals hated and reviled him during the Florida vote controversy. I was completely convinced that W had become more conservative than his father. But the truth can’t be hidden forever. In values and practices, the Bushes are closer to the Clintons that they are to the average Christian who prayed for them.
The latest evidence comes from the Associated Press:
“Bush and his wife, Barbara Bush, attended the ceremony joining Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen as private citizens and friends on Saturday, said spokesman Jim McGrath. Thorgalsen posted a photo on her Facebook page showing Bush signing the marriage license as a witness. She captioned the photo: ‘Getting our marriage license witnessed!’”
So no Christian ethic at all. Just willing participants.
His son, of course, while president, opposed so-called “gay marriage”—merely allowing his wife to put out pro-homosexual propaganda. No, I’m not saying that Laura Bush didn’t have a mind of her own. I’m saying that no one gets into politics without a cooperative spouse, and if Laura decided to put out a message while First Lady you can be sure the Bush political team agreed she should do so. Once done with his two terms, George W. no longer had to pretend, though he’s giving some space to officially “change his mind” so the ruse doesn’t become too obvious.
“A spokesman for George W. Bush on Wednesday declined to comment on his current feelings about same-sex marriage or his thoughts about his father’s role in a same-sex wedding. In July, George W. Bush made headlines when he said he wouldn’t comment on the issue, saying he ‘shouldn’t be taking a speck out of someone else’s eye when I have a log in my own.’ He later explained that he just wasn’t going to answer the question because he was out of politics.”
Didn’t stop him from condemning Edward Snowden or supporting Obama. This is a straightforward betrayal of sexual morality.
Jeb, still hoping to be president, has not signed as a marriage witness yet, saying he wants the states to decide. But it is clear where he wants to go: “In a speech in June, he told the Faith & Freedom Coalition the nation needs to be supportive of non-traditional families.”
Dick Cheney was entirely in favor of homosexual marriage (though against a Federal law foisted on the states). His daughter Liz is running for Senate in Wyoming and is having a convenient public argument over homosexual “marriage” with her “married” Lesbian sister.
Just watch the puppet show, conservatives, and vote accordingly. That has worked so well in the past.
