Stricter gun control would be more dangerous for everyone, including minorities.
“The very purpose of the Second Amendment is to stop the government from disallowing people the means to defend themselves against tyranny. Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible.” – Steve Stockman
Many Americans are under a misapprehension regarding the original intended meaning of the second amendment. Most who support the second amendment will tell you that the right to bear arms is related to self-defense against criminals, or any such individuals who might have intent to do one harm. This is indeed true, and was made clear in the case of D.C. vs Heller, in 2008. It is noted in the ruling that the right to bear arms exists in part for personal self-defense. However, the intent behind the second amendment is not simply to provide a means of defense against criminals, but to protect the citizenry against a possible government tyranny.
The JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership) cites Alexander Hamilton’s federalist paper number 28, in which he writes about the main intent behind the second amendment:
“The Federalist Papers, No. 28: Alexander Hamilton expressed that when a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming tyrannical, the people have no choice but to exercise their original right of self-defense — to fight the government.[Halbrook, p. 67].“
During a debate between leftist Piers Morgan, and Ben Shapiro, Morgan questioned, and mocked the notion that a modern, sophisticated government would become so oppressive as to require the use of weapons by the citizenry. Shapiro, in what was perhaps the most brilliant quote of the debate, shot back:
“…the basis for the Second Amendment is not really about self defense, and it’s not about hunting. It’s about resistance to government tyranny. That’s what the Founders said, and that’s what the right believes in this country. I fear the possibility of a tyranny rising in the country in the next fifty to a hundred years. Let me tell you something, Piers. The fact that my grandparents and great grandparents in Europe didn’t fear that is why they’re now ashes in Europe. So this kind of leftist revisionist history where there’s never any fear of democracy going usurpatious or tyrannical, is just that. It’s fictitious.”
Why bring up the second amendment? Because we are facing a continuous and systematic assault on our right to bear arms. The most recent example of which comes in the form of a press release from the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, which, in response to the assassinations of two police officers in New York City on Saturday, December 20th, wrote the following:
“These two killings and the life-threatening injury, like so many other unfortunate incidences of gun violence, provide a stark example of the need for sensible gun control measures…“
The NAACP used the murder of officers Ramos, and Liu to promote gun control. This happens every time a mass shooting occurs; gun control zealots come out of the woodwork to wag their fingers at the second amendment, and those who would support it. They prattle on, and on about how we need stricter gun control laws, yet most of the mass shootings that have taken place over the last several years have occurred in states in which gun control laws are the most stringent. This is because of one reason: criminals don’t follow the law. Criminals don’t obey “Gun Free Zone” signs.
Gun control laws don’t have any effect on criminals. Those who intend to go on shooting sprees will do whatever it takes, regardless of the law, to obtain firearms. Gun control laws merely serve to reduce the number of law-abiding citizens who are allowed to carry firearms freely. This then allows those with ill intent to commit mass murders because the citizens being targeted have no recourse but to run or hide; they have no ability to defend themselves because their right to do so has been legislated away.
This constant pressure from the left and the media will only continue and escalate. The ultimate intention of gun control advocates is a complete disarmament of the American people. At some point, the proclamation will be made that indeed gun control has little to no effect, because criminals don’t follow laws. This will lead to the argument that unless firearms are eliminated completely, gun violence cannot be stopped. It is at that point that firearms will be legislated out of the hands of the American people, only to be held by the military, and the police—also known as the government.
As the noose tightens, we the people will be defenseless against what has already proven to be an overly oppressive federal government, and we will be at its mercy.
The second amendment was written with the express purpose of protecting the American people from what is now occurring right under our noses. We are being oppressed at such a glacial pace that many of us haven’t even taken notice. Our right to bear arms is being peeled away, and if we don’t fight back against this slow usurpation, we won’t have the means to fight when it really matters.
If you don’t believe this is taking place; if you don’t believe that a modern, sophisticated government such as that of the United States can become so corrupt that at some point, the people may be required to defend themselves against it, the blood of six million Jews may convince you otherwise.
As Ben Shapiro so brilliantly put it: “The fact that my grandparents and great grandparents in Europe didn’t fear that is why they’re now ashes in Europe.”
Humanity is capable of the darkest deeds even in the starkest light. Don’t allow yourself to be fooled. This is a real, advancing agenda, and one that—if not resisted—could lead us to the end of our republic.
