Michele Bachmann says Goodbye in her Farewell Speech on the House Floor

A conservative heroine gave her last speech on the House floor Tuesday. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has been a lightning rod of criticism for the left ever since she first arrived in Washington, D.C. to serve some of the good people of the state of Minnesota. Her conservative social and cultural values kicked against the status quo on political correctness, earning her the ire of most of America’s liberals. But conservatives have had nothing but love for Mrs. Bachmann. She was genial, warm, folksy and tough… in fact, she has been everything that conservatives are often saying they want in their candidates. It’s going to be sad not having her around in D.C. anymore.

We wish her the best, and hope that she will continue to fight for conservative values in whatever she does next.

“It’s an honor and it’s the ride of a lifetime. I’m so filled with joy and so much happiness and understanding that the privilege that I have is one of being really a link on a chain. It’s gone on for hundreds of years and I stand right here on the soil in the square feet that are the freest square feet in the world.”

Never shy about connecting her work in Congress to her religious convictions as a Christian, Bachmann also remembered to give credit to the Bible for our system of governing.

“Here in the United States, the Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses is the very foundation of the law that has given happiness and the rise of the greatest prosperity that any nation has known before. It could be no coincidence that this nation, knowing and enjoying the heights of such great happiness and such great prosperity, that it could be built upon that foundation of the Ten Commandments and by the law given by the God in whom we trust.”
