Liberal Hollywood Democrats Taking Movie Jobs Overseas

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama and the Democrats kept harping that Romney was responsible for sending American jobs overseas.  It didn’t matter that the Obama administration had been doing the same thing by giving military contracts to Brazil and using a Canadian firm to help construct the infamous federal Obamacare exchange website that turned out to be a dismal failure.

The Hollywood film industry was a huge supporter of Obama and his liberal policies.  Many in the film industry picked up and repeated the lies of Romney sending jobs overseas.  What they weren’t telling you was that over the past 15 years, many Hollywood film makers have been leaving Tinsel Town to film their shows and movies elsewhere.  Some have moved to other US cities, but a number of them moved their productions to foreign shores.

Remember the blockbuster Lord of the Rings trilogy?  It was filmed in New Zealand, a country that readily made concessions to welcome the film industry.  Now, James Cameron has announced that he has moved the filming of the next couple of Avatar movies to New Zealand.

The same people that were accusing Romney of sending jobs overseas are now doing much the same in their own industry.  Los Angeles is reeling from the effects of losing thousands of jobs.  Over twenty years ago, Hollywood had over 45,000 production days a year.  Currently, that number has dropped to about 25,000 production days a year.

The Hollywood film industry used to be responsible for around 500,000 jobs, but that number has drastically dropped in recent years, causing Los Angeles political figures to start finding ways of keeping as much of the film industry there as possible.

To be honest, I think it’s rather ironic that some of the very people that screamed out against Romney have been doing the very same thing.  A number of old clichés come to mind, but instead of using them all I’ll just close with watch what you say because your words can come back and bite you in the Obama.
