Joe Biden: Stupid Is As Stupid Does

In the past three and half years, Vice President Joe Biden has said some pretty stupid things, but perhaps none more stupid than what he said over the weekend.

While speaking to a crowd in Athens, Ohio, Biden responded to accusations that he and President Barack Obama had spoken untruths at the Democratic National Convention last week.  In his typical pompous style, Biden told the crowd:

“I say to the press, fact check me.”

When I read his statement, it immediately reminded me of the famous quote from the 1994 classic film, Forest Gump, where he says:

Stupid is as stupid does.”

It didn’t take the Romney/Ryan campaign long to jump on the fact checking challenge.  Amanda Henneberg, a spokeswoman for the campaign responded saying:

“Today, Vice President Biden said that he should be fact checked, and we agree.  The vice president knowingly and deliberately leveled false and discredited attacks. This is further proof that the Obama Campaign is unable and unwilling to talk honestly or substantively about the most important issues driving the country.”

“In an attempt to distract from President Obama’s failed record, including unemployment remaining over 8 percent, labor force participation falling to three-decade lows, and our national debt passing $16 trillion, Vice President Biden is once again advancing fabricated and disproven attacks on Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.”

Concerning Biden saying that Obama has created 4.5 million jobs in the past 29 months, several fact checkers jumped on it, pointing out that the statement was inaccurate.  The jobs creation number did not take into consideration the jobs that were lost during the first 15 months of the Obama administration.  It also didn’t account for the number of people that have fallen off the unemployment rolls because they have exhausted all of their benefits or have just given up looking for work.  When you add all of this together, the net job increase under the administration was less than 500,000.

Obama told America that he would use the money saved by ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to build roads, bridges and schools.  But the Associated Press was quick to point out that the money used to pay for the wars was borrowed, meaning there is no money to use to build roads, bridges and schools.

Obama claimed that independent experts have examined his economic plan and that it would cut $4 trillion from the deficit over the next 10 years.  Yet one independent agency said that part of the Obama plan was nothing more than a gimmick.

Both Biden and Obama have touted that General Motors is not only alive and well, but they are number one in auto sales. says GM is number 2 in sales behind Toyota and that they currently appear to be close to falling to third place behind Volkswagen.

Biden keeps repeating that Romney will raise taxes on the middle class by $2000.  Again, points out that Romney has promised to lower taxes on the middle class.  The fact is, Obama is the one raising taxes on the middle class, seniors and poverty level Americans through Obamacare.  There are a number of hidden taxes in Obama’s healthcare plan that will start taking effect in January 2013 through January 2016.

Biden and Obama claim that Romney will cut 30 million seniors from Medicare when in fact he plans on restoring the $716 billion dollars that Obama took from Medicare.  Romney and Ryan have both promised to make Medicare secure for the next 10 years at least and to offer seniors a second option, but will not force it on them.

When all was done, said that there were 8 instances of Biden or Obama spinning the facts during their speeches.  Going beyond those items checked by the fact checkers, Biden is still telling everyone that Romney’s entire business record is one of outsourcing jobs overseas and in fact that is far from the truth.

For Biden to challenge fact checkers to check his statements, after knowing he has lied and stretched the truth is either the act of a delusional person or that of a pathological liar.  A pathological liar is a person who tells a lie and the second it leaves their lips, it becomes that person’s truth and reality and they have no idea that some of what they said is a lie.  I’ve dealt with this type of a person before and even taped a conversation with them.  When I played back the tape, they denied that was them on the tape and had no idea where I got the recording from, and they were dead serious.

So you decide for yourself.  Is out current Vice President delusional (stupid is as stupid does) or is he a pathological liar?  Then realize that either option makes him a very questionable person to be next in line for the presidency if anything happens to Obama.
