It’s common knowledge that back in the 70’s, scientists were warning of the coming ice age. But perhaps less commonly known is the catalyst that those scientists were claiming would ignite that ice age. Hint: it’s the same excuse that scientists and politicians use today as the cause of global warming – fossil fuel-burning. The only difference is that today, climate scientists pushing global warming are acting as lobbyists for the solar and wind industries. During the ice age predictions of the 70’s, scientists acted as lobbyists for the nuclear industry. That’s what it’s all about. Whatever industry can offer the most kickbacks to politicians, media personalities and yes, scientists, is the one that gets hoisted as the “solution” to a nonexistent problem conjured up by politicians, media personalities, and scientists.
“The world could be as little as 50 or 60 years away from a disastrous new ice age, a leading atmospheric scientist predicts,” the Washington Post reported on July 9, 1971, quoting Dr. S. I. Rasool of NASA and Columbia University.
According to Rasool, fine dust from fossil fuel use would block out so much sunlight that the Earth’s “average temperature could drop by six degrees.” Rasool added that “such a temperature increase could be sufficient to trigger an ice age!”
Basically, pollutants from burning coal and other fuels tend to reflect solar energy back into space. Scientists were worried that such man-made aerosols would block out so much sunlight that global temperatures would drop — just like how volcanoes can cause some atmospheric cooling.
Worry among the scientific community was apparently so strong that Gordon MacDonald, President Nixon’s science advisor, said that fossil fuel-driven cooling was “one of the serious problems” facing the world. MacDonald added that Rasool’s predictions were “consistent with estimates I and others have made.”
But it didn’t come true. The Earth warms and cools in cycles not unlike the seasons. And there’s absolutely nothing the solar and wind industries can do about it. The fossil fuel industry can’t make it cooler or warmer, and neither can the nuclear industry.
As has been stated so many times before, the issue of manmade global warming has nothing to do with science. Those at the top of the scheme aren’t idealists who are concerned for humanity. They have no regard for human life (except their own). Other than that, all they care about is money and power.
