How Planned Parenthood Will Use the Fog of War to Confuse Americans

Truth is the torch that gleams through the fog without dispelling it.” – Claude Adrien Helvetius

The Colorado shooting is certainly a tragedy. Three people have died–two civilians and one police officer. However, at this moment, we have no idea the motive of the shooter, or if Planned Parenthood was even his target. Speculation is rampant, and the left will use this their advantage.

In the fog of war, and until concrete, incontrovertible evidence proves otherwise, the left will repeatedly imply that this was an attack on Planned Parenthood, and therefore, an attack on “choice” by a rabid, anti-women’s health Tea Party conservative. The leftist media will push this narrative surreptitiously through headlines, sub-headers, and in actual content.

It’s already started:

nyt huffing

The left knows very well that low-information Americans will only read headlines, and at this moment, this easily-manipulated portion of the electorate is being hit over the head with a barrage of “Planned Parenthood Shooting!”

Inside the articles, there are side-notes saying “While we don’t know the motives of the shooter…” as if to be even-handed.

Perfect example, this tweet from Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM):

“We don’t yet know the full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action, and we don’t yet know if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack. We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”

Now, if the man, now identified as Robert Lewis Dear, was indeed targeting Planned Parenthood, it’s safe to say that pro-lifers would condemn his behavior. But that’s not the point.

Regardless of the condemnations of millions upon millions of pro-lifers, the actions of this one man will define the pro-life movement for as long as the leftist media can milk it.

This will add fuel to the “war on women” narrative. For the next few weeks and months, every time you bring up abortion taking the lives of innocents, someone will toss off Robert Lewis Dear as some sort of counterpoint, as if his rampage justifies the slaughter of approximately one million infants annually.

Guys…guys, his actions were as bad, if not SO MUCH WORSE, you guys, than that of abortion doctors!

Until motives can be pinned down, just watch Planned Parenthood and their supporters throw EVERYTHING at the wall to see what sticks. And if it turns out that Dear had no “pro-life” motive, the left will silently drop the story, never to revisit it again. It will be as if it never happened. No retractions by Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountain’s Twitter account, no apologies for the rampant speculation, nothing. All they want is for low-information Americans to remember “PLANNED PARENTHOOD MASSACRE!”

We are the torch in the fog of war. We need to guide people to the light. We need to invalidate the irrational arguments of the pro-abortion left, and make sure that if Robert Lewis Dear’s motives were unrelated to Planned Parenthood, we make hella noise about it.

In the end, though what he did was awful, I respect his choice to do it, as I respect a woman’s choice to execute her child for the sake of convenience. Was that too soon?
