A Democratic candidate for governor in Arizona said that he believes girls even as young as 14 shouldn’t need parental consent in order to get an abortion.
Of course, I think this is a moot point. This is akin to being fine with any other kind of murder as long as your mom or dad says it’s okay. Abortion is murder, plain and simple. Parental consent doesn’t automatically make something that’s morally wrong into something that’s right.
Arizona gubernatorial candidate Fred DuVal disagrees. He was at a public forum at Redemption Church in Gilbert, Arizona when he made his comments:
Regardless of whether parental consent laws are moot with regards to abortion, we’ve reported on cases where such laws would have helped nab pedophile rapists.
In one case, a 31-year-old Washington man who had raped his 12-year-old “girlfriend” took her to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington state and told her to get an abortion and to lie to the doctors by telling them that it was her 14-year-old boyfriend who impregnated her.
Washington doesn’t require parental consent for abortions, and perhaps that’s why the rapist chose to rape a child. He knew that there wouldn’t really be any consequences as long as his victim never told anyone the truth.
But unfortunately for him, the girl told authorities 6 weeks after the abortion. Now, the rapist Luis Gonzalez-Jose is serving a 6-year, 8-month sentence, after which he will be deported to his home country and never allowed back in the U.S. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement said they would ensure he would never return.
It seems a little inconsistent to be all in favor of assisted and anonymous infanticide for young, pregnant teens, something that liberals call a “medical procedure” and “reproductive freedom,” while pretending to be outraged over a convicted murder’s lethal injection being too “barbaric.”
