Conservative, Black Actress Slandered

Actress Stacey Dash tweeted her support for a presidential candidate and, interestingly enough, that candidate was Mitt Romney. According to social media, it was the wrong endorsement. Here’s why:

1. Stacy Dash is part of the Hollywood community.

2. Stacey Dash is black.

These two factors have intertwined to create the perfect storm; a storm of absolute hatred, vile condescension and racism. Shortly after her tweet went public, Dash was inundated with a flood of angry tweets, ranging from childish mockery at her support for the Governor to threats of violence against her. Here is a sample of some of the tweets:

@Sam_Iam7 tweeted: Stacey Dash is a c***.

@TruStory_ tweeted: bitch dumb. Voted for Mitt Romney fool ass.

@luvgonlime tweeted: stacy you should go kill yourself like your friend murphy. No one likes fakes bitches. They should of had kelly kick ur ass.

@sellyworshipper tweeted: GO DIE N****R BITCH!

These are just several samples of a multitude of vile tweets sent to Stacey Dash simply because she endorsed a Republican. What can we glean from these tweets? First, Twitter is a place where intelligence has died. But more importantly, we learn that a black person is not allowed to be conservative. But the question remains: why?

This is not a new phenomenon, of course. Conservative blacks have been ridiculed and harassed for a long time now. Back in 2004, radio talk show host, John Sylvester called Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice an “Aunt Jemima,”saying that her role in the Bush White House was simply to create the “illusion of inclusion.” In addition to this, he also called Colin Powell an “Uncle Tom.”

Senator Barbara Boxer of California once said to Rice: “I personally believe — this is my personal view — that your loyalty to the mission you were given, to sell the war, overwhelmed your respect for the truth.”

Mia Love, a black conservative running for Congress in Utah was given a speaking slot at the RNC. The response from the Left was typical. Here are some highlights:

@berrijuana tweeted: I don’t care what anyone says. Mia Love may be the next Republican star, but she’s still a black woman and a trailer.

@sohappi tweeted: Mia Love = Aunt Tom.

That last jab was pretty popular across Twitter during the convention. I could go on and on with example after example of slander of black conservatives, but I think my point is clear. The Left cannot tolerate a black conservative.

So we’re back to the big question: why? Well, there are several reasons. The Democrats believe that they are the party of civil rights; that they are the champions of black America. If you actually look at a history book, you will see that it was actually the Republicans who championed civil rights, but the Left doesn’t want you to know that. They want the world to think that their policies help the black community, and that they are the party that has cornered the market on caring. Because of this, they simply cannot believe it when a black person crosses to the other side.

There is a deep condescension pervading this sentiment. It seems that the Left believes there are only two ways a black person can become a conservative.

1. They have been brainwashed.

2. They are stupid and/or self loathing.

You can see this condescension in Boxer’s comment to Rice. In saying that she believes that Rice is blind to the truth, Boxer is condescending to Rice. She is saying, through veiled language, that Rice isn’t intelligent enough to formulate her own opinion, therefore she must have been brainwashed by the Bush Administration.

You can see option number two in the comments made on Twitter. An “Uncle Tom” is someone who feels subservient to another, usually in reference to a black person feeling subservient to a white person. It is, of course, in reference to the novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Those users on Twitter simply cannot fathom the fact that a black person is a conservative. The only answer they can come up with is that she must be self loathing or have some kind of subservience complex, hence the “Uncle Tom” references.

I don’t have to say that this is disturbing, but I’ll say it anyway. It’s really disturbing. The party that lies about being the champions of civil rights, and the party that claims to have cornered the market on tolerance lashes out when a member of the voting block they think they own “steps out of line.”

All of this leads back to Stacey Dash. Dash just followed through on her endorsement of Mitt Romney by voting for him. Once again, this has caused outrage from the Left. The Left needs the black vote, and they feel as though they own the black vote. Stacey Dash is simply the most high profile representative of a growing number of black voters who are becoming dissatisfied with the Democratic Party and its condescension, and have begun to turn to the other side. The Left cannot tolerate this migration, so they lash out against anyone who participates in it.

All of this is to say congratulations to Stacey Dash for your bravery in the face of the mob. Being a conservative in Hollywood is one thing, but a black conservative? Props. Hopefully, more closet conservatives will be as brave as you and speak out for what they believe in.
