David Horowitz said: “A university is not a political party, and an education is not an indoctrination.”
Indoctrination hides behind many masks. Something seemingly innocuous can hide the worst forms of indoctrination. The American education system—specifically college—has been growing steadily more Liberal with each passing year. A perfect college education would ensure a hearing of both sides of any idea; providing students the facts and opinions to make a well-rounded, informed decision. That is not the case anymore; and it hasn’t been for quite some time.
Universities have become indoctrination centers, where we are taught to see things in only one way: the Liberal way. We go from class to class, learning a twisted history, with warped facts, that ultimately make the weak-minded among us perceive the world in a particular way. This being the case, universities are creating an army of graduates who know little of the real world; and rely on fictional arguments to get by.
This faux education is essentially creating a generation of adults who are unable to argue with any sense of reality; relying on illogical premises, and unsound facts to make their case. Logic bounces off of them like bullets off of Superman.
A new survey, conducted by the Young America’s Foundation found that every single commencement speaker at Ivy League universities this year were ardently liberal. The list includes Joe Biden, Corey Booker, and Michael Bloomberg.
According to Campus Reform:
“Last year, a Campus Reform investigation found that 96 percent of the faculty and staff at Ivy League schools who contributed to the 2012 presidential race donated to President Obama’s campaign. From the eight schools, $1,211,267 was contributed to the Obama campaign, versus $114,166 given to Romney…The survey conducted by YAF was not just limited to the Ivy League institutions…Of the top 100 universities listed by U.S. News and World Report, 62 chose to select liberal individuals to deliver commencement speeches, compared to 17 conservatives, according to YAF.”
Young people have malleable minds, and having someone like the very liberal Michael Bloomberg rail on gun rights advocates for 40 minutes during his commencement speech can’t be a good thing. Over the course of four years, students are being taught one side of an argument. Unfortunately, it’s the side that uses neither facts nor anything else that is substantive.
A true college experience would be four years of even-sided debate, leaving students to come up with their own results. One cannot call themselves informed without knowing both sides of an argument. As it stands, we are inheriting a generation of lopsided, illogical, intellectually stunted individuals.
Our country is being indoctrinated by our public schools, our universities, and our media. But it is in the universities where the most damage is done. David Horowitz was right; a university is not a political party. Well, at least it shouldn’t be.
