What happens when liberals in the media and political establishment find out that the CEO of a company donated $1,000 to a pro-marriage cause way back in 2008? The guy gets “exposed” for his bigoted, homophobic views and is forced to resign.
What happens when a politician accepts money from the evil Koch brothers? Well, the media usually react the same way in “exposing” said politician for being a Koch addict/puppet.
Unless of course the recipient of that Koch money happens to be a liberal Democrat, like Chuck Schumer. Then, it’s not news.
What’s ironic is that just a fews days ago, Senator Schumer was railing against the Koch brothers:
Back in 2009, Schumer was glad to receive some political contributions from the Koch brothers’ PAC. In a letter dated October 28th of that year, Senator Schumer wrote:
Thank you so much for the generous KOCHPAC contribution to my 2010 campaign for re-election to the United States Senate.
I have been blessed for most of my adult life in that I love waking up every day and going to work for the people of New York. It is truly an honor to serve as New York’s senior senator and work on the important issues of our time — issues that so affect my state and this country. Whether it’s the economy or education, national security or health care, energy independence or immigration… I will never stop fighting, tooth and nail, for us to achieve a better New York, and a better America.
Your early financial help keeps me strong in my campaign. In return, I promise to continue working as hard as I can to help our nation reach its maximum potential.
Again, I can’t thank you enough. All of my best to you and yours, and I look forward to working with you throughout this election.
Sincerely, Chuck Schumer
If liberals were consistent, they’d be railing against the Senator for taking money from the “American Taliban” or the KKK or the Hitler brothers. As I’ve said before, I don’t really care all that much either way about the Koch brothers. But liberals seem to think that they’re behind the vast, right-wing conspiracy. And yet here’s a liberal who railed against the “evil” Koch brothers as all liberals do, but gladly took money from them. Where’s the outrage from the left about Schumer taking dirty money from this racist, homophobic, misogynist, flat-earth-believing, überfundamentalist, “teabagger,” extreme right-wing domestic terrorist group? So, it’s OK for liberals to take money from anyone, even groups commonly associated with conservatives, but it’s bad for conservatives to take money from those same groups? Got it.
