“White Christmas” Song Now Racist

It’s not surprising to find out that there’s yet another group of words that’s “racist.” After all, this particular group of words contains the word “white” in it. Anything with “white” in it is racist. Unless it’s “kill all the white people,” in which case that’s just exercising the First Amendment.

What’s more racist than a white person singing the song “White Christmas?” Answer:  A black man singing “White Christmas,” who has the gall to sing it right as the grand juries handed down their decisions not to indict two white cops who had killed black suspects/victims.

The offender is the former lead singer of the somewhat popular 90’s cheese-rock group Hootie and the Blowfish. His name is Darius Rucker. He happens to be black.

He had the audacity to sing the song “White Christmas” at the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in New York City. The lefties took to social media to attack him. Here’s Breitbart:

Social media lit up Wednesday evening with complaints about former Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker performing “White Christmas” at the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at New York City’s Rockefeller Square. Some activists had threatened to attack the ceremony after a grand jury declined to indict a New York police officer in the death of unarmed Eric Garner during a confrontation over cigarette sales in July.

The ceremony went ahead under police protection, and Rucker performed “White Christmas,” a classic written by a Jewish immigrant, Irving Berlin. The song refers to snow, not to race, in recalling a traditional Christmas scene.

Critics, however, believed that the mere reference to the color “white” by a black singer in the throes of a racially-charged controversy was offensive and suggested a contempt for the feelings of other black people.

One commenter Tweeted:

“Darius Rucker/Hootie just sang ‘I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas’ at the tree-lighting ceremony. Because America is f****** with us all”

Their sentiment reminds me of that line from Hunter S. Thompson’s rather crass Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: “What kind of rat b*****d psychotic would play that song – right now – at this moment?” Well, in this case, obviously an “Uncle Tom” wannabe-white racist prankster who wants to stir up trouble.
