What We’re Reading August 3, 2013

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently! It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day. You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Saturday August 3, 2013.

Apparently Al-Qaeda isn’t as “defeated” as President Obama led us to believe.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) says that the Obama administration is changing the names of CIA operatives who were at Benghazi and scattering them around the country to hide them from Congress.

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) says the tea party is racist “white crackers”. Niger Innis, Chief strategist for theteaparty.net, and a black man had this retort. “It is not surprising that lazy, shiftless politicians who have an abysmal record for their community would want to diffuse the issue of what they are doing for their communities by dropping the race card.”

Chris Christie (R-NJ) loves on his Democrat followers.

Shock of all shocks… CNN hasn’t covered the IRS scandal in over a week!

Lastly this morning, a recap of the annual YAL conference:

YALThis week was the big annual Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) conference. Boy, do those young folks know how to have a good time! They invited some pretty important young Republican power to come and speak to them this year in a conference that culminated with a speech from now retired GOP Rep. Ron Paul.

  • Thursday night they had the opportunity to sit and listen to Representatives Justin Amash (R-MI), Mick Mulvaney (R-SC), Raul Labrador (R-ID), and Thomas Massie (R-KY). (Also the Wall Street Journal ran a piece about who Thomas Massie is and what he’s doing in Washington – check it out.)

randYALHere are some of Ron Paul’s quotes from his speech.

“[Liberty] should bring us together no matter what faction you come from…Conservatives want raw milk and liberals want marijuana, but what you really want is freedom and it should bring us together!”

“The younger generation has to stand up and say we believe in liberty and we believe in minding our own business and that will change things.”

“Big government can only be held together by lies…and that’s why the truth becomes treasonous.”

Have a Great Saturday!!
