It’s bad enough that our tax dollars are being used to pay for abortions and birth control, but how would you feel if you found out that your tax dollars were used to pay for sex change operations?
The citizens of Massachusetts have already had to shell out thousands of tax payer dollars to pay for hormone treat of a convicted murderer who wanted to change sex. A couple years ago, a liberal court ordered that the state pay the $20,000 for his sex change operation.
Now, there are liberal advocates that are pushing our government to allow transgender people into the military. One of those advocates is former US Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders, who served under former President Bill Clinton. Last month, Elders headed a five member panel on behalf of the Palm Center that is so liberal that they nearly fall over to the left when they walk. Virtually the issues that the Palm Center think tank deals with are LGBT related.
At Elder’s leadership, the panel declared that there is no medical reason why transgender people should be barred from serving in the military.
Bryan Fischer, Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association commented on that panel decision, saying:
“This is a panel that consisted of advocates for the normalization of homosexuality, and the reality is this is just political correctness run completely off the rails.”
What many may fail to realize that along with pushing the idea of allowing transgenders to serve in the military, Elders and her panel also stated that they want US taxpayers to pay for hormone therapy and sex change operations once the transgenders enlist in the military.
Fischer stated that even the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association listed ten reasons why it is not a good idea to allow mainstream transgender people into the military. Among those reasons listed are ‘heart attacks, stroke, obesity, cancer, STDs, alcohol substance abuse, depression and anxiety.’
Additionally, Fischer said the following questions should be answered before allowing transgenders into the military:
“Would it improve military cohesion? Would it improve morale? Would it improve readiness? Would it improve recruitment? The answer to all those questions is no, which means this would simply be very bad public policy.”
Elaine Donnelly, President of the Center for Military Readiness says that this is no surprise from Elders:
“She was forced to resign after 15 months in office because of some rather controversial remarks on abortion, drugs, sexuality. So she is an unlikely person to be considered a leader on anything to do with these issues; but I’m not surprised the Palm Center would put her forward.”
“What this amounts to really is a demand for access to the medical system of the armed forces. The kind of treatment that is involved in changing the sexuality of a person is very, very expensive.”
As I read all of this, I think back to when I was at basic training for the Air Force. Which barracks would a transgender person be assigned to? I honestly don’t see a group of young macho males tolerating a transgender that wants to be a woman living in their barracks with them. On the other side, I don’t see a barracks full of young women wanting an anatomical male living and showering with them. Would the military end up having to create separate barracks just for them?
Then which uniforms would they wear – male of female? What sex would be listed on their military ID? There are a number of issues that would need to be addressed, none of which are compatible to a military that is being paired down by a president that is dead set on weakening our military and making America more defenseless.
Additionally, if Obama is slicing and dicing the military budget, then how would anyone be able to justify the tens of thousands of dollars for each sex change therapy and surgery? It’s bad enough that taxpayers have to pay for benefits to the unmarried same-sex partners of military personnel, but the thought of seeing my tax dollars paying for sex changes for transgender people almost makes me wretch my lunch all over my computer. It’s repulsive and sinful and should never be allowed to happen.
