“I told him that I did not believe that they could burn people in our age, that humanity would never tolerate it.” – Elie Wiesel, Night
The Holocaust is one of the most significant events in history in which evil was so blatantly evident. As such, many have used it as a marker against which all other evil is measured—the lessers and the greaters. This has led to inappropriate comparisons as well as comparisons that are strikingly relevant.
During a radio interview Sunday, Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said the following about the Iran deal:
“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven…
This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal. It should be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and by the American people. I read the whole deal. We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.”
DNC Chairwoman and shrill loudmouth Debbie Wasserman Schultz slammed Huckabee, saying:
“This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics…Cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable. Mike Huckabee must apologize to the Jewish community and to the American people for this grossly irresponsible statement.”
Hmm. Debs assumes the analogy is cavalier. In that assumption lies her major mistake. How does she know that Mike Huckabee was being cavalier? She doesn’t. Think about the Iran deal in light of the concessions that have been made by the United States and the rhetoric that has come from Iran over the years regarding Israel.
Like Huckabee said, we’ve made so many concessions it’s gone from a deal to a giveaway. It’s like Iran won a game show. Now they’ll spin the wheel and get the grand prize: a nuclear bomb.
We’ve conceded uranium enrichment, the bunker in Fordow, and IAEA inspections—just to name a few. The U.S. is gift-wrapping everything for Iran.
Iran’s hatred of Israel—and the Jews is general—is well documented. Even Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said “Iran’s position, which was first expressed by the Imam…is that the cancerous tumor called Israel must be uprooted from the region.”
Like every nation and area controlled by radical Islamists, Iran’s ultimate goal is the destruction of Israel.
If we make enough concessions, Iran will become a nuclear power. If they build a weapon and use it on Israel, we will be complicit in the termination of the Jewish people. We will have thrown Israel into the fire of a nuclear bomb. It’s not an oven, but it’s just as bad.
So, Mike Huckabee isn’t inaccurate in his comparison—not even close—Israel’s situation is truly life and death. I guess the Debster doesn’t think that Israel being a smoking hole in the ground is a big deal.
