Thank You for Leaving, John Boehner

According to Breitbart, anonymous sources tell them that outgoing Speaker of the House John Boehner (feels good to write that) allegedly “struck a deal” with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that would help the Democrats pass the budget, fund Planned Parenthood, and avoid a shutdown.

Breitbart reports:

“Boehner reportedly knew that cutting such a deal to avoid a shutdown would result in a brutal battle with conservatives in his own party. He felt he could win challenges to his leadership mounted by conservatives in his own party, but thought it might do damage to the House and the Republican Party…Sources also tell Breitbart News that Boehner was inspired by the visit of Pope Francis, and decided it was his duty to resign in order to do what was right for the Congress and the country.”

So, Boehner allegedly believes that a shutdown would damage the Republican Party so badly that he decided to fall on his sword for the cause? Now, these are just rumors because they haven’t been confirmed—nor are they likely to ever be confirmed. However, if true, this is exactly why someone like John Boehner should be leaving.

When something as critical as the funding for Planned Parenthood—an independently wealthy, non-government organization, an organization many Americans believe is murdering human beings—is up for debate, John Boehner, a supposed Catholic, is willing to “compromise” for the what he perceives is the good of the party and country?

In this case, “compromise” means acquiescing to the demands of the Democrats—as it always does—and “the good” means keeping his party alive. But for what? What purpose does the Republican Party serve if it simply jumps when the Democrats tell it to? Republican leaders are like dogs trying desperately to please their masters. It’s unbalanced, and ultimately dangerous.

Boehner and his kind seem to believe that politics is a playground and not a battlefield. Boehner’s contemporaries, like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, are all of the same breed. They believe that Washington is some kind of game in which both sides are working for the good of the people in earnest. He doesn’t understand that Washington is a war in which the Democrats are winning by manipulating the Republicans. The Democrats are the warriors, and the Republicans are what stands in the way of total dominance.

The John Boehners of the House and Senate are in the wrong mindset to be in positions of power. They truly go along to get along. It’s all one big happy family! Truth bomb, Boehner: It’s not a game. The empire is falling, and you have managed its decline for long enough. The universal deceit of go-along-to-get-along politics must be met with a revolutionary force that will disrupt the board, and incite change.

If party survival is your number one concern, and if that concern overrides the service of your constituencies, then your time is up, and it’s time to pack your bags because Washington has transformed you from a servant into a serpent. Thank you for leaving.
