Rand Paul calls Romney “Yesterday’s News”

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is an early frontrunner for the GOP Presidential nomination in 2016 and boy is he acting like it. With the recent resurgence  in speculation that Mitt Romney could run for President once again in 2016, the other candidates have begun to take shots at his possible campaign. As a guest on the John Gibson show, Senator Paul was asked about the possibility of a 3rd Romney run for the White House…

If he runs to the right of Jeb Bush, he’ll still be to the left of the rest of the party. So it may be a difficult spot to occupy. Look, I liked Governor Romney. I like him personally. I think he’s a good person. I think he’s a great businessman, but, you know, that’s yesterday’s news. He’s tried twice. I don’t really think that there is a third time out there. I think he did a lot of things right, but in the end you have to have a bigger constituency, you have to get new people, you’ve got to attract new people to win and I think it’s just time that probably the party’s going to be looking for something fresh and new.

Ouch. Sadly, he’s not wrong. Both Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney have themselves planted firmly to the left of the Party’s base. Hopefully in 2016, the GOP will pick a conservative to finally put an end to the Democrats time in the White House.
