Planned Parenthood Says Ultrasounds are “Invasive,” but Uses Them to Harvest Baby Parts

Back in May, before the damning Planned Parenthood videos were released, we reported on their response to one of Scott Walker’s comments about ultrasound legislation. Walker had voiced his support for such legislation, saying that many women decided against an abortion once they saw their baby on an ultrasound.

Planned Parenthood shot back:  “Let’s get one thing straight:  Forcing women to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds before letting them access safe, legal abortion is not a ‘lovely’ or a ‘cool thing.’…Transvaginal ultrasounds are intrusive and invasive.”

Unless, of course, they’re trying to harvest unborn baby tissue and organs. Then they’ll gladly use ultrasound to make sure not to damage the parts they’re trying extract from the baby. In that context, ultrasounds aren’t intrusive and invasive at all. They’re “life-saving.”

Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina weighed in on this hypocrisy:

“This is an abomination that Planned Parenthood has lobbied against a woman’s opportunity to look at an ultrasound before she makes an incredibly difficult choice to end the unborn life within her, and yet, they are using that same technology to harvest body parts, which they claim are not a life, in order to sell them to save another life,” said Fiorina. “It is unbelievably hypocritical, and I frankly find it astounding that anyone can defend it.

The issue “has nothing to do with whether you’re pro-choice or pro-life,” the former Hewlett Packard CEO said. “This has to do with the moral foundation of our nation. If a woman was sitting outside of Planned Parenthood, in, for example, her OB/GYN’s office, looking at this ultrasound at precisely the same point in her pregnancy, her doctor would be saying to her, look at your baby. Look at its heartbeat. Look at its fingers and toes.”

Abortion advocates claim that Planned Parenthood’s harvesting of babies’ organs and tissue actually saves lives either by providing healthy organs to those who need them, or through medical research. They’re grasping at straws, trying to come up with some way of morally justifying these egregious acts.

You’d be “saving a life” just as much if you strapped down a full-grown, healthy person against his will and “harvested” his liver for someone else to have. Yes, you’d be killing a person in the process, but you’d also be saving a life. The only difference between that and what Planned Parenthood is doing is that the unborn child is completely defenseless and cannot speak for itself, which makes the act of abortion and organ-harvesting all the more evil.
