Palin Gets Slammed…For Her Christmas Tree

“For the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter…” – Jeremiah 10:10

The term “scraping the bottom of the barrel” could not be more applicable if there was an actual, physical barrel being scraped. It’s been somewhat joyous for me to watch the Left attack Sarah Palin over the years. I say joyous, because it is inspiring to see someone in politics shake so much negativity off, and remain just as strong, if not stronger than she was before. Additionally, watching the slow decline of quality insults is pretty fun.

Right off the bat, in 2008, the Left came at Palin with their claws out. While the slights weren’t at all accurate, they generally still packed a punch. They probably expected her to give up, and fly back to Alaska. But she didn’t. She’s still here. Given that, the attacks have had to continue. However, the Left has nothing…left. For example, MSNBC’s Ed Show. Guest host Joy Reid tried to trap Palin by claiming that her Christmas tree goes against Christianity. Yep. While being interviewed recently, Palin displayed a Christmas tree in the background. Reid then quoted Jeremiah 10:10 as a reference.

It’s almost satirical. I mean, it has to be. But the best part about it is that it isn’t satirical, it’s just profoundly stupid. Joy Reid has to know that the quoted scripture is a reference to idols and idolatry. If not from the first half, at least the second, which she also quoted: “Like a scare crow in a cucumber field, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.”

I mean, it says “idols.” Let’s run down the possibilities:

1. Joy Reid actually believes what she quoted is a reference to Christmas trees.

2. She doesn’t, but she’s got noting else to go on.

3. She thinks that Palin won’t know the true scriptural meaning, will respond by saying something foolish, and then Joy will have more to mock.

Regardless of Joy Reid’s intentions, or understanding, every possibility is simply, and strangely dumb. The Left hasn’t got much going for them if they have resorted to discussing Palin’s Christmas tree in the background of her interviews. If Reid didn’t write that segment herself, whoever did should be psychiatrically evaluated.

The fun never stops.
