Obama’s Blamepology

“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me. We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them…” – Barack Obama

Excuse me if I’m not very satisfied with that “apology” from our president. A sincere apology is one that accepts moral responsibility for what one has done in a direct way. The president did not do that. What Obama did in the above quote was essentially apologize for the fact that people are losing their insurance. His apology was abstract, shielding him from true blame. He was even clever enough to insert “based on assurances they got from me” into his faux apology.

We know from the breaking news reports that the Obama administration had full knowledge years prior to the Obamacare rollout that Obama’s signature law would cause millions of Americans to lose their insurance plans. That was known to Obama when he made his feature promise of “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan, period.” Not only did Obama make that promise on record, but he made it dozens of times, nearly identically.

Given that Obama knew that many Americans would lose their insurance, but told us all the opposite, it is clear that he lied. It can be explained away by the Democrats as “deliberate oversimplifying,” as Kathleen Sebelius claimed, but we know the truth. With that knowledge, Obama’s apology means nothing. It’s like saying “I’m sorry that you were hurt in this incident because you misinterpreted something I said.” That means nothing. Obama has zero character.

Additionally, an apology would not do it for me at this point. An apology from a caught liar is empty. If somehow, Obama had not been caught in this stark lie, do you think he would have ever come forward with it? Absolutely not. So his apology is doubly offensive in that it is manufactured as well as frightfully vague.

However, because at least 40% of Americans are already on Obama’s side, and another 25% or so are dumb as a post, I’m certain that this will serve as his official apology. Obama will be lauded by Democrats and Liberal pundits for showing true integrity in admitting fault, and every media outlet aside from Fox will endlessly praise him as the nuanced president.

But those of us who can read and understand even basic logic know that Obama’s “apology” is without any merit, and utterly useless.
