Obama Threatens Lives of Every American Abroad with Gitmo Swap

Over the weekend, the White House carried out a swap of five Afghan members of the Taliban being held in prison at Guantanamo Naval Base (Gitmo) in Cuba for US Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. I’m thrilled for the Bergdahl family but am also extremely concerned that Obama’s actions just placed the life of every American outside the US in danger.

Now that Taliban terrorists understand that our Muslim loving president will negotiate and release Taliban terrorists in exchange for the lives of Americans, especially military personnel, what will stop them from kidnapping more American military personnel and civilians? If they can get a five for one swap, they could easily empty Gitmo of the terrorist prisoners it holds. Perhaps this is Obama’s way of fulfilling his campaign promise to close the prison.

Rep. Howard P. McKeon (R-CA) Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and Sen. James M. Inofe (R-OK) the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee issued a joint statement saying:

“Trading five senior Taliban leaders from detention in Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl’s release may have consequences for the rest of our forces and all Americans. Our terrorist adversaries now have a strong incentive to capture Americans. That incentive will put our forces in Afghanistan and around the world at even greater risk.”

Another problem with Obama’s actions is that federal law requires the Secretary of Defense to notify all appropriate congressional committees of the intent to move or transfer any prisoners from Gitmo. That notice must be made 30 days in advance of the move or transfer.

Republican members of the House and Senate armed services committees say that they were not notified and thus President Obama violated the law by conducting the trade without notifying them. According to an anonymous senior administration official, President Obama believed that the law requiring the 30 day notification was an unconstitutional infringement of his executive powers and therefore believed he had the right to override the law. He stated:

“Due to a near-term opportunity to save Sergeant Bergdahl’s life, we moved as quickly as possible. The administration determined that given these unique and exigent circumstances, such a transfer should go forward notwithstanding the notice requirement.”

Supposedly, the five Taliban terrorists were transferred to Qatar, where the Taliban once had their official offices. They are supposed to be held there for at least one year, but after that is anyone’s guess.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) stated that the five terrorists have the blood of Americans and numerous Afghans on their hands and is concerned about them returning to the terrorist war with the United States.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is concerned that President Obama’s actions have caused a change in the fundamental policy of not negotiating with terrorists. He stated that this has created a ‘fundamental shift in U.S. policy.’

There has been no secret that President Obama detests the US military. He has systematically destroyed their integrity, strength, numbers and benefits. Obama has also demonstrated that he cares nothing about the American people and their safety and welfare. What he does care about is exercising his assumed dictatorial role and doing everything possible to help his Muslim brothers. He consistently helps and supports Muslim extremists while letting Christians be slaughtered by the thousands by the very same Muslim buddies of his.

Obama’s action in the Bergdahl swap is just one of dozens of examples of his traitorous actions. When will America and Washington DC wake up and see him for what he is and do something about it? President Barack Hussein Obama is a traitor and should be treated as such. He should be arrested, tried, convicted and executed as other traitors have been in the past. I’m sure there would be no problem finding volunteers for a firing squad to carry out the deserved punishment for his betrayal of America.
