Wendy Davis’s loss must be blamed on anyone but herself.
Wendy Davis, the Abortion Barbie in Texas, rose to prominence using her pink shoes and catheter. She was the latest and greatest thing to grace the feminists’ and pro-abortion activists’ stage.
But she lost handily to Greg Abbot, whose wheelchair Davis was all too willing to mock in her desperate campaign ads against him.
Quite embarrassingly, Davis lost the female vote. But it wasn’t all women’s fault, according to liberals. It was the white women who are to blame for her loss. The Daily Caller reported on one such blog that made that observation:
The pro-abortion blog RH Reality Check identified this with an op-ed entitled “White Women: Let’s Get Our Sh*t Together.” According to blogger Andrea Grimes, it was “married white women” who “failed Wendy Davis—and ourselves, and our families, and Texas families.”
“You’ll hear that Greg Abbott ‘carried’ women voters in Texas,” she snipes. “Anyone who says that is also saying this: that Black women and Latinas are not ‘women,’ and that carrying white women is enough to make the blanket statement that Abbott carried all women.”
“White women chose Greg Abbott Tuesday night. We did not choose empathy. Texas has been red for two decades. We do not choose empathy. We choose the fact that our children will always have access to education, that our daughters will always be able to fly to California or New York for abortion care, that our mothers will always be able to get that crucial Pap smear.”
They can blame white women for Wendy Davis’s loss, and it’s not considered sexist or racist. But try blaming Romney’s loss on blacks. That’s racist, wrong, hateful, and bigoted.
