Kerry to Putin: You Can’t Just Invade a Country on Trumped Up Pretexts

You tell him, Mr. Secretary. Make sure Putin understands that the only country that can do that is the U.S. of A. How dare Russia pretend like they’re on par with us.

John Kerry had this to say on Bob Schieffer’s Face the Nation:

“Well, it’s an incredible act of aggression. It is really a stunning, willful choice by President Putin to invade another country. Russia is in violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine. Russia is in violation of its international obligations. Russia is in violation of its obligations under the U.N. Charter, under the Helsinki Final Act. It’s in violation of its obligations under the 1994 Budapest Agreement. You just don’t, in the 21st century, behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pretexts. So, it is a very serious moment… If Russia wants to be a G8 country, it needs to behave like a G8 country, and I guarantee you that everybody is determined that if this cannot be resolved in a reasonable, modern, 21st century manner, there are going to be repercussions.”

Finished laughing yet? Kerry does have an extremely dry sense of humor, doesn’t he? I mean, he didn’t even crack a smile or wink an eye. He had a straight face the entire time. It was almost like he was being completely serious.

The joke is, of course, that “invading another country on trumped up pretexts” is exactly what the U.S. does. That’s official U.S. foreign policy. Think Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. Think of the threats we made against Syria and President Bashar al-Assad based on the “trumped up pretext” of Assad using chemical weapons on his own people when the evidence said otherwise. No, everyone knows that the U.S. is the only country in the world that can invade, attack, bomb another country for made-up reasons, especially when it’s in our political interests to do so.

“If Russia wants to be a G8 country, it needs to behave like a G8 country…?” You mean like drone-striking a country? Perhaps that’s what Putin should have done with Crimea. Hey, that’s what the U.S. does with countries like Pakistan and Yemen. If we’re the world’s leader, then Putin is just following our lead, right?

In truth, Kerry doesn’t care about the people of Ukraine or “democracy” and “fair elections.” He doesn’t care about anyone but himself, and the geopolitical engineers in the U.S. are only concerned with power and control.

The official narrative is that we’re supposed to be on the side of Crimea/Ukraine and against Putin. I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and the outs of the Crimean crisis. Mainly because it’s none of our business.
