Jay Carney Disputes Obamacare Numbers … Because Obama Tells Him So

Perhaps reality has just gotten to this point. People are so stupid, and institutions are so corrupt, that the news is just bound to look more and more like a parody of itself. Well here’s another hilarious tidbit, this one coming (again) from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. First, a little back story.

There may not be hard numbers available on who has paid Obamacare premiums yet. But these actual numbers would put an end to speculations on who had or had not really signed up for Obamacare. Because until someone is actually paying the premiums, their signup status is dubious.

And that’s just what the numbers have been coming from Jay Carney and Obama—dubious. It’s hard to say just how many people have signed up. Is it five million? Seven million? Ten thousand? We don’t know. But hard numbers on just who has paid the Obamacare premiums would put the question to rest.

So with all that said, here’s reality comedian Jay Carney, with his bit “I Don’t Have Hard Numbers, But I Still Dispute Yours … Because, That’s Why”:

We dispute their numbers. We don’t have hard, concrete numbers, but we dispute them.

Okay. “We actually don’t know anything. But we don’t like what they say they know. So we’re going to contradict their data. For no reason. Except that their data doesn’t make us look good.” What numbers is he disputing? Numbers from a House Energy Committee Report stating that:

As of April 15, 2014, only 67 percent of individuals and families that had selected a health plan in the federally facilitated marketplace had paid their first month’s premium and therefore completed the enrollment process. Nationwide, only 25 percent of paid enrollees are ages 18 to 34.

Yeah. So reports of Obamacare’s success may have been greatly exaggerated. Who cares if 7 million signed up, if only 5 million are paying? And if 75% of those people are old, the system is doomed. Just doomed.

Sorry, Jay Carney. Disputing the numbers because you don’t like them doesn’t change anything. It just makes you look like a clown.
