“Political correctness has become a straightjacket.” – Gary Oldman
Political correctness has finally crossed the red line. It used to be a thing we made fun of, something we detested because it constrained us. Now, with the San Bernardino terror attack, political correctness has moved from being a simple metaphysical horror into something that directly contributed to the deaths of more than a dozen Americans.
Ever since 9/11, America has been subjected to endless rants about “Islamophobia.” Every time a major terror incident occurred in the world, or a plot was foiled in the United States, we heard the terrified shrieks of the PC police. Metaphorically jack-booted culture warriors would spin stories of a non-existent hate culture targeting moderate Muslims, and we would cower in the corner like dogs.
Well, to quote someone with whom President Obama is quite familiar, America’s PC chickens have come home to roost.
According to an ABC affiliate, a neighbor of Syed Farook’s mother had her suspicions about the family, but held her tongue because she didn’t want to “profile.”
Neighbor Aaron Elswick recalled the story to ABC7:
“She had noticed that they had been, I guess, receiving packages–quite a few packages within a short amount of time. And that they were actually doing a lot of work out in the garage. She was kind of suspicious, and wanted to report it, but said she didn’t want to profile.”
Political correctness has taken life.
She didn’t want to profile. I wonder where she got that idea? Oh yeah. At every turn, the “Islam is Peace” mantra has been beaten into us by the leftist media and our very own president. Every time liberal politicians speak about radical Islamic terrorism, they go miles out of their way to rebuke those who would ever dare to suspect malfeasance on the part of an American Muslim.
People are so terrified of being labeled racist or bigoted that if their Muslim neighbor were assembling pipe bombs on the front lawn, they’d look the other way.
However, there’s a much more frightening side to this story. It’s not simply the fear of being labeled a racist bigot that’s driving this nonsense; we’ve been brainwashed into actually believing that Islam is a peaceful faith. We’ve been told this lie so many times that we believe it without question.
This woman saw behavior that was suspicious, but she didn’t report it. If this were Ireland at the height of the IRA conflict, and someone saw their neighbors behaving in the same way, they would call the police. They would do this because it makes sense.
When a certain subgroup of individuals is known to practice violence, and people who bear all the marks of that subgroup are behaving in a suspicious way, one is right to be wary. But we’ve been told for so long that radical Islam doesn’t represent Muslims that when all signs point to jihad, we just can’t see it.
We repeat to ourselves what Obama and the media have drilled into our brains for years: Anyone can be radical! Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, and Atheists are just as prone to radicalization as Muslims! It’s wrong to assume that Muslims are more likely to be perpetrators of terror than anyone else. How dare we!
Now 14 people are dead.
