Federal Regulations Increasing Faster Than Rabbits Breed

There is one thing that President Obama and his fellow Democrats are good at and that is creating new federal regulations.  Just last week alone they added 1,571 pages to the growing volumes of federal regulations.  So far this year, the feds have generated a whopping 55,324 pages of NEW federal regulations.  Printed out on standards 8 ½ x 11 paper, and laid end-to-end, they would reach 9.6 miles.

So far this year, they have produced 2,708 new or final regulations.  The feds are turning out new regulations at the rate of one every 2 hours and 13 minutes, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.  At the rate they are going, they could end up with over 3,800 new regulations amounting to almost 80,000 pages.

Among the newest regulations are EPA performance standards for newer oil refineries and paper mills.  We may all feel the new EPA performance regulations on oil refineries less than five years old as it will cost them an estimated $79 million to comply, which will undoubtedly be passed on in higher prices at the pump.

It seems that a number of the new regulations may be designed for the sole purpose of generating more money for the federal government.  Some estimates place revenue of over $17 billion in compliance costs resulting from just 36 new regulations alone.

At a time when the economy is shakier than a house on the San Andreas Fault and a job market lower than Joe Biden’s IQ, new costly regulations are only going to make the creation of jobs less likely.  Companies are going to have to spend more money just to comply with the new regulations.  Those costs are going to be passed down to other companies they do business with and so on until the costs reach you and me, the consumers.

This, dear people, is the Democratic Party’s solution to improving the economy and creating jobs.  Create more regulations which will cost companies more which will make them create fewer jobs while prices we pay will go up to cover the increased compliance costs.  And they are expecting us to give them four more years to keep doing the same thing because they claim it’s working.  Yeah right!
