EPA Promotes Earth Day by Burning Thousands of Gallons of Jet Fuel

The EPA is on a tour promoting Earth Day, a move which has prompted some environmental groups to cry foul. See, the tour is intended to promote the cutting of greenhouse gases in order to curtail climate change, but ironically (or hypocritically, as the case may be), the tour itself will require the use of thousands of gallons of jet fuel. The very purpose of the tour is therefore undercut by its methods:

A national nonprofit environmental group is turning up the heat on the Environmental Protection Agency for sending its chief on an Earth Day-themed tour to call for action on climate change, arguing the multi-city excursion will hurt the environment.

The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility says the greenhouse gases generated by EPA administrator Gina McCarthy’s week-long, five-city tour will “far exceed” any concrete action on climate change from her travels.

“Frenetically jetting around the country appears to undercut [the] EPA’s message to ordinary Americans that they should conserve, consume less and reduce transportation pollution,” PEER Executive Director Jeff said in a statement.

Yes, well what do you expect? Al Gore toured the world in a private jet to promote his Inconvenient Truth. Barack and Michelle Obama, both rabid supporters of climate change reform, tend to fly in separate planes to their common engagements. Citing logistical difficulties doesn’t really cut it.

The fact is that the EPA and its private counterparts are all about leveraging anthropomorphic climate change to force a sociological sea change in the rest of us. But they seem largely immune to their own rhetoric, and even unwilling to take their own snake oil.

But again, what do you expect? This is just the leftist way. Power-hungry leftist bureaucracies have become downright infamous for perpetuating and even exacerbating the very problems they were created to address.

The NSA is an anti-terror bureacracy? How about the biggest source of terrorism at home and abroad—from wire taps to “judge and jury” drone strikes. The Obama administration is against income inequality? That explains why income inequality has grown so much worse under Obama’s watch. The FDA is there to make sure your food and drugs are safe? That explains why Monsanto is running small-time farmers out of the business of making wholesome food, and why legal drugs are more dangerous and destructive than any of the drugs you would expect to find from your neighborhood dealer. The Department of Health and Human Services is designed to help the poor? That explains why there are more poor people now than ever. The Department of Education is designed to make sure our children get a good education? That explains why literacy has declined precipitously since its inception. The list could go on and on.

In America, there is one thing you can count on from the civil government officials: They will do basically and exactly the opposite of what they say they intend to do, and they will not be held accountable for it in the end—you will.
