“I think many are using it for partisan advantage…People have to understand that we are not opposed to photo identification in a vacuum, But when it is used in — certain ways to disenfranchise particular groups of people, whether by racial designation, ethnic origin, or for partisan reasons, that from my perspective is problematic. I think it is being used in too many instances to depress the vote of particular groups of people who are not supported of the party that is advancing these photo ID measures.” – Eric Holder
What do Democrats think is stopping minorities from obtaining photo identification? This is a constant battle between Democrats and conservatives. Conservatives want to create laws requiring voters to show photo identification in order to vote, and Democrats claim it’s racist. The reasoning on one side (the conservative side) is logical, and reasonable, and the reasoning on the part of the Democrats is irrational, and just a bit loony.
Let’s take a look at each side. There is clear evidence of voter fraud having happened in many recent elections. Many of those cases have been relatively minor, but one thing I’ve learned in my years of observing political corruption is that if there is a small case, there is very likely a much deeper problem. Additionally, any voter fraud is unacceptable. The most obvious, and painfully simple solution is to require ID when voting. That way, those who are not citizens cannot vote. Requiring identification shuts fraud down at the root.
The Democrats cry foul—emphasis on cry—every time this issue is brought up. They claim, like Holder, that requiring ID amounts to voter suppression. Their evidence? They claim that many minorities cannot afford a photo ID, and that they cannot possibly make it to the DMV to obtain an ID. Yes, you read that correctly. Minorities are too poor and stupid to make their way to the DMV to get an ID.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles website: “Having some form of photo ID is critical in our world today; you need to be able to prove you are who you say you are in many situations. You’ll need a picture ID to board an airplane, get a job, set up bank accounts, and in order to make certain purchases.”
Also, according to the New York DMV website, obtaining an ID costs between $6 and $10, depending on your age, and needs. To obtain the ID, one needs several items, including a social security card, a bank statement or utility bill, college ID, and a copy of your supplemental government income, if you have it. That’s it. Those are the requirements.
Am I supposed to believe that a minority person doesn’t have these things? If they’re alive, they certainly have a social security number–although I know Democrats love a dead voter! Unless they’re homeless, they most likely have a bank account. And I can’t believe $10 couldn’t be scraped up to pay the fee.
Like the DMV site says, to do almost anything in life, one needs photo ID. ID is required to rent an apartment, buy a house, buy a car, get on a plane, get a job, set up a bank account, and even to see a movie! So, unless these alleged disenfranchised minorities live on the street, have never had a job (ever), never had a bank account, and can’t catch a bus, or walk to the nearest DMV, they can get a photo ID.
It’s absurd that the Democrats can even get away with an argument this stupid. Simply because we want fair elections, conservatives are made out to be racist loons. It’s not voter suppression! The Democrats want voter fraud so they can win elections. That’s the only reason behind their illogical, and moronic voter suppression argument. The main reason the Democrats want an “open” election process is so that illegal aliens, dead people, and house pets can vote for them.
End of rant.
