What is this, some kind of sick joke? Planned Parenthood protects life?
I know they offer cancer and STD screenings and maybe a few other things, but they also provide abortions. Abortion is the opposite of protecting life. It’s taking life.
But Planned Parenthood has an Orwellian explanation for believing that this taking of life is actually protecting life. They don’t want this child to have to grow up in this cold, mean, and dangerous world. So, they prevent that from happening. They save the child from his future misery by snuffing out his life while in utero. And they do it out of compassion and love for the child, and in effect tell the unborn baby, “Kid, this hurts me more than it hurts you.” They’re “protecting life.”
CNS News reported that Democrat Representative Jackie Speier from California – of course she’s from California – defended the abortion organization, saying that they “protect life”:
Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) defended Planned Parenthood on the House floor Wednesday just before the House passed a bill that defunds Planned Parenthood and repeals Obamacare, saying that the nation’s largest abortion provider actually “protects life.”
“Why is it they want to take away the very services that actually protect life?” Speier asked. “Planned Parenthood protects life.”
“American women are there scratching their heads thinking why do the Republican leadership hate us so much?” Speier said. “Why is it they want to take away our rights? Why is it they want to take away the very services that actually protect life?
“Planned Parenthood protects life by providing more than 900,000 cancer screenings a year, and millions more receive services through Planned Parenthood,” she argued. “Why are Republicans trying to deny us from accessing this very vital health care?”
Speier also made an exercise analogy in which she cited House Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) repetitive P90X workouts, saying that while that sort of repetition leads to a healthy lifestyle, “Repeating the same tired repeal and defund bills does not lead to more healthy lives. It just makes the American people tired and sore at the waste of taxpayer money.”
She called on Republicans to “put down the political equivalent of that giant plate of nachos and exercise the hard job of governing.”
Speier is an outspoken defender of Planned Parenthood and famously shared the story of her own abortion in a debate on the House floor in 2011.
I don’t know any conservatives or Republicans who are against cancer screenings or STD screenings, or any other services that promote someone’s livelihood. The main thing that we object to is that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the U.S., and their abortions are being performed using taxpayer money. It’s funny. She didn’t say a word about abortion.
They may do 900,000 cancer screenings a year, but they also do over 300,000 abortions a year. And they use federal grant money to do them. That’s what we object to.
