Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said: “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.”
Though that quote tends to be referenced in regard to actual slavery, I believe it applies much more broadly. We are enslaved who do not use our minds to discern good from bad, right from wrong, smart from foolish and sensible from rash. We have been given a mind so that we can use it as a guide to understanding the world around us. If we fail to use it, and falsely believe we are informed—just because we watch CBS—we have failed to see the big picture. We have failed to truly allow our brain to function.
According to Jim Capretta, from American Enterprise Institute:
“There’s going to be taxes on insurance. Taxes on drugs. Taxes on medical devices. All of that is getting passed through to the prices people have to pay either for direct services or their insurance premiums.”
This statement is in reference to—you guessed it—Obamacare. The article from Breitbart goes on to quote numerous sources from within the political and business community regarding the cost of Obamacare in the long-run. Basically, the rundown on the article is this: Healthcare that is “free” is really freakin’ expensive.
So, what is the point? Exactly. The very fact that this is news frightens me. First, anyone who didn’t know that in the end, “free” healthcare would not be quite free, is bafflingly stupid. Second, it’s these people who champion Obamacare. The Left’s useful idiots go about trumpeting the merits of “free” healthcare, not grasping that the costs wind up being placed squarely upon the American consumer. Finally, the fact that someone, somewhere will read this and just now put the pieces together regarding the socialized medicine scam, is terrifying.
To those people—who more than likely voted for Obama—I say: Thank you. Thank you for finally using the mechanism in your skull that allows one to see a scam when it’s right in front of them. To them I also say: You should no longer have the right to vote because you’re not smart enough.
It’s baffling that there exist people who don’t know basic economics, so much so that they actually believe that healthcare could be “free.” But they exist, so it’s all the more important to make sure our friends and families are educated about politics. The more we educate people, the fewer people will be Democrats. It’s senseless to get into arguments, but it is possible to change someone’s mind with rational discussion. We have a gift called the brain. Some people just don’t use theirs properly.
