Dependency, Control, Power–Obama’s Ultimate Plan for America
Mitt Romney said: “Dependency is death to initiative, to risk-taking and opportunity. It’s time to stop the spread of government dependency and fight it like the poison it is.” It’s interesting that Romney compares dependency to poison, because poison–if administered gradually–can go unnoticed until it’s too late. We, as a species, are able to tolerate increasingly poisonous environments; we are able to adapt in response to difficult situations. There are certainly benefits to such behavior in a society; adaptability helps us survive. On the other hand, adaptability is ultimately harmful if it is in response to a poisonous stimulus. Government dependency is a poisonous stimuli.
Food stamp usage has been on the rise for many years, but has increased dramatically since 2008; the last year of the Bush administration, and the first term of the Obama administration.
According to The Wall Street Journal:
“Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, as the modern-day food-stamp benefit is known, has soared 70% since 2008 to a record 47.8 million as of December 2012. Congressional budget analysts think participation will rise again this year and dip only slightly in coming years.”
In addition to this, WSJ notes that the rise in food stamp usage is due, in part, to a relaxed attitude toward the validity of candidates. This relaxed attitude is a result of encouragement from the Obama administration. Now, more people than ever–who may not exactly meet a normal standard of poor–are enrolled in the food stamp program.
47.8 million people–roughly one sixth of the country–are on food stamps. An increase of 70% in the span of four years is not an indicator of rising poverty, but an indicator of fraud. The more relaxed standards that are being encouraged are allowing those who do not need federal assistance to obtain it. This, in essence, is fraud.
Though there is dishonesty and laziness on the part of those who, without need, apply for food stamps and federal assistance, the real integrity problem is coming from the federal government. The more money the federal government provides for assistance–especially to those who don’t need it–the more dependent the people will become. This growing dependency acts as a snowball effect, only ever increasing in size. The object in motion will continue to stay in motion.
Using this continually increasing reliance on federal assistance, Obama and the Democrats are willfully creating a welfare state. Once those on the dole no longer have the will to achieve for themselves, they will always vote for the candidate who will continue to provide them with free swag. That is common wisdom. Following that, a cycle is put into motion that cannot be stopped. Those on unnecessary federal assistance will vote for politicians who will give them free stuff, and those politicians will give more and more until the assisted become the majority, and our economy, and society will collapse.
In order to have absolute power, one needs absolute control; and to have control, one needs dependency. The Democrats want power, so they are initiating a plan that will allow full control based on federal economic dependency. George Orwell wrote: “We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it.” So, the question is: Why power? What is to be gained through power? What do the Democrats ultimately desire? I don’t think that they even know the answer, because power creates a thirst for more power, without an understanding of why. The worst part about an insatiable desire for control and power is the needless destruction it causes. Our country is on the brink; we are being systematically taken apart.
As no one who seizes power does so with the intent of relinquishing it; it is up to us to take it back. The 2014 elections are 20 months away. We’ve got some work to do.
