TSA Naked Scanners Being Pulled From Airports

Nearly ten years ago, TSA introduced its first backscatter x-ray machine in an airport.  The technology became instantly controversial due to its ability to produce nude images of airport passengers.  Privacy issues were taken to court, but the liberal courts ruled that national security was more important than a person’s privacy and modesty.

In an attempt to appease the public, TSA placed the people viewing the scans in a closed off room where they would have no contact or line of sight with the person being scanned.  However, this failed to quell the complaints that continued to flood the airport screeners.

Another concern that has been raised with the backscatter x-ray scanners was a health issue, especially for travelers who flew frequently.  Were frequent flyers being exposed to harmful amounts of radiation?  The question remains unresolved which is why TSA officials recently contracted the National Academy of Sciences to study the scanners and their effects on the human body.

At the moment, the backscatter x-ray machines are being used in 30 airports in the US.  They had plans to expand their use, until the company that provides the scanners and software said that they could not meet the congressionally ordered deadline to provide privacy software for the 174 scanners used at the 30 airports.

Rapiscan, notified TSA that they will not be able to meet the deadline, so TSA has cancelled its contract with Rapiscan and has announced plans to pull all of the backscatter x-ray scanners out of the airports.  They will be replaced with the millimeter wave scanners that are currently being used in 170 airports.  These scanners have privacy software that prevents the person from viewing the scans of being able to see a clearly defined nude image of the passengers.

The removal of the backscatter x-ray scanners should alleviate the concerns over privacy and over the harmful effects of frequent scans.  The millimeter wave scanners, at least for now seem to be the answer to both concerns.

    The problem is that it is still a violation of my 4th ammendment protection from unwarranted search and seizure.  It also requires that I put my arms up in surrender to the State.  I won’t do it.  I’ll continue to demand a personal groping, which is also a violation of my Natural Rights, but at least I don’t have to put my hands up in surrender.

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @Jaycen Neither should you have to submit to molestation!  That’s also a violation of your rights and person!

    • Hawker 1

      @Jaycen
       Sounds like you just did, surrender to the groping and gave up your rights to not be harrased by the Gov.

      • http://www.sternresolve.jaycenrigger.com Jaycen

        @Hawker 1  @Jaycen
         I have to travel for work.  Unless you’d like to add my family to the dole of people your taxes pay to support each day, I have to give up my rights to avoid being harrassed by the government you and I voted for, and pay for every day.

        That’s the part that makes me sickest.  I’m literally paying for those Union jerks to molest me.  Unbelievable.

  • wedey

    I wonder how much that has cost the taxpayers by putting these in airports. You teach your children when they are young to never allow anyone to touch their bodies and if someone does, they should tell you and then you go to the airport and someone gropes you all over.  Wouldn’t it be nice if the government throught all these things through before making any monumental mistakes

  • Penguin999

    Not only do the machines violate your privacy…they also subject you to unneeded xrays

  • Secondamendment

    What did that cost us?

    • refurb001yy

      @Secondamendment WHAT affect have these machines had on frequent flyers, small children and the general public as well?  AND, how many terrorists have they caught?  I just hope I don’t start glowing in the dark….

  • tps1217

    More wasted taxpayer money, isn’t it great to have unlimited funds?

  • ShortyStuff

    When are we going to get rid of the sexual molestation they still perform on whomever they desire?

    • SamLasley

      @ShortyStuff
       Amen!  I have had my genitals massaged by black males more than once and I am 82 years old. If they tried that outside the airport I would have shot their balls off.

      • Hawker 1

        @SamLasley  @ShortyStuff
         Your stupid.

        • kaci

          @Hawker 1  @SamLasley  @ShortyStuff
          LOL! “your” stupid?!?!??!  hahaha!!

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @ShortyStuff Very good question!  And it IS molestation at the very least; in some cases it amounts to actual rape!

  • boxerbuddy4

    When the TSA starts physically searching Muslims and others currently banned by the government I will feel safer.

    • SamLasley

      @boxerbuddy4
       Let’s start with the #1 muslim Hussein Obama and go from there.

      • SandraLeeSmith

        @SamLasley  I think the AF has to do that; since he flies on their birds, currently.

  • JennieWalsh

    Are these new scanners harmful in any KNOWN way?  As one who does not trust the government AT ALL, I am suspicious.

  • Secondamendment

    Lets not forget the hapless TSA employees who are exposed to the radiation day in and day out. 20 years from now they’ll sue a long bankrupted country for medical care.

  • SandraLeeSmith

    Nice try; but they still invade privacy, and STILL won’t be used on the very people who ARE the threats; and WON’T stop anything!

  • RedMeatState

    We don’t need the TSA OR the DHS at all.   EVER.

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @RedMeatState Nope; we didn’t even need metal detectors; they never stopped anything either.  I remember before any of those was in airports.  And DHS should be called the Department of Homeland Offensives {against Citizens}!

      • jlanghals34

        @SandraLeeSmith  @RedMeatState What we need is someone with some common sense in Wash.If the person looks like a duck,quack him !

        • SandraLeeSmith

          @jlanghals34 Hmmm; could be a LOT of dead ducks around the swamp, if we did that…..

        • jlanghals34

          @SandraLeeSmithNow you got it.Could have got a bunch yesterday !

  • Hawker 1

    Just boycott the airlines for a week or so and you would see a different set of rules . With the ease of using the internet and video confer.s worldwide it would be easy to force a change. Flyers are a bunch of sheep to let whats happening happen. I have not taken a flight in 10 years now and will not until things change.

    A LITTLE GUN HISTORY In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —————————— In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —————————— Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. —————————— China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —————————— Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —- ————- ————- Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —————————— Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. —————————– Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. —————————— You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! Gun registration just makes it easy for the FEMA, Department of Homeland Security, IRS agents to come and confiscate your weapons. FEMA was never intended to help disaster victims (super storm Sandy victims), DHS was never intended to protect American citizens, and the 16,000 new IRS agents authorized by Obamacare are all there to plunder and tyrannize American citizens. There are FEMA concentration camps throughout the USA, complete with gas chambers, watch towers, razor wire fencing, railroad tracks ready and waiting for all dissenters of the plutocratic, communistic, socialistic, Satanic, corporatist, oligarchic tyranny of the New World Order, the one world Satanic totalitarian military police state dictatorship, Agenda 21 of the United Nations. The American people are literally financing our own enslavement and destruction by paying the IRS’s extortion money.

  • ves

    Have they really been removed or something more hidden and more invasive been installed in their place?????
    Think about it the TSA hasn’t ever shown any common sense before!!!

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @ves They’re changing over to the millimeter wave emitters, in other words a different form of radiation machine!

  • ves

    In other words it will show a better picture down to the skin … you just won’t be as aware of it!
    Possibly even more exposure to radiation or whatever else there is!

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @ves Pretty much so, yeah….

  • AdrianVance

    Has anyone ever done a cancer study on the frequent flyers?

    Come see us at The Two Minute Conservative, http://tinyurl.com/7jgh7wv and when you speak ladies will swoon and liberal gentlemen will weep.

    • livefyre8158

      @AdrianVance
      What are you trying to do, establish the facts in this matter ?  The MOSSAD agent whom George Bush Jr. snuck into the US GOV does not want Americans to know the facts.  All X-ray devices should be removed >immediately< from all Airports, and the MOSSAD agent who introduced them imprisoned.  Getting your hands on a non-doctored review of the damage to the human body done by the devices requires connections with the israeli MOSSAD.  Unless you have insider contacts with the MOSSAD, forget the idea.  Or, if you want genuine facts, goto this address:

  • ves

    Ok I know they are working on something that negates facial reg and clothes that blank you out for security cam … so who has what going we can wear to flip these waves back at the machines??????
    I know someone probably has it in the works if not already on the market! I think it’s Brazil that has the dude that makes the regular looking bullet proof clothing!

  • kaci

    Well, if they start suing the TSA Agents for molesting people – The TSA agents better use their own monies for slimy lawyer bills, and, not my/taxpayer money.

  • kaci

    I don’t see the difference between the current backscatter x-ray machines, and, the newer  millimeter wave scanners … They both see you nude.  They both are molesting you. … Must be some sort of democrat logic.

    • livefyre8158

      @kaci  Almost.
      More like israeli MOSSAD logic.

    • SandraLeeSmith

      @kaci ALLEGEDLY the latter has some different sort of software that keeps the viewing agents from seeing you as clearly, which means they can’t see anything like a hidden bomb as clearly either, of course, but you’re right, it IS still VIOLATING you!

  • BarackHussein

    Now let’s work on eliminating the TSA government union slugs altogether…
